Mike's Dive Resort at Dauin's Marine Sanctuary
Me at Mike
s House at the entrance of the dive resort Dive 1 Ph- Dauin Sanctuary.
I dove with Bills tech gear and a back plate im not used to. But it was ok because it was our gear test dive. The equipment eventhough is in great shape has never been used. We entered the water in front of Harold’s shack. There is a small shop with compressors and tanks for rent, a well-built concrete camera and gear buckets. A few good pressure showers and nice clean bathrooms. I saw a few small pick up trucks for transporting divers back and forward from the site to downtown. We could see Apo Island right across the water and that was our navigational mark straight south. The bottom of the area is volcanic sand dark not gray but brown and silty. We swam south passed the buoys where the slope started but there was a very weird current pulling us sideways. It was hard for me to keep my regulator in my mounth and my ear started hurting. We didn’t pass the 40 ft mark I don’t think. I forgot to activate my wrist computer so I was diving only with my depth gage. I also forgot to check the focus in the
camera. We saw beautiful sand divers flairing fins under the mouth and extending the two long fins behind their heads like two horns. Very pretty. They were probably doing a mating display. There was a very protective nemo family with like 10 small fish. The male bit me as a warning signal to keep me away. I thought it was vey cute. We swam to the right around the buoys but didn’t see much besides the school of blennies, lots of big garden eels and a zebra snake.
Log 692: 50 minutes. 6 lbs in a belt and 8 pounds in a pocket. 80AL filled at 3000psi. The fee for the park was 140 Ph per person and we paid 75 per fill plus 75 per tank rental. We didn’t have to bring the tanks but If we dive Bill’s we could have longer dives since his tanks are 100cc Steel. 40 ft max. Camera locked in manual focus and couldn’t operate it.
Dive 2 Ph-Dauin Sanctuary.
I still had 1500 psi and Bill 2500 psi because he is a smoker and smokers conserve a lot of air. We decided to walk more towards Grace

View from Mike's resort with a liveaboard behind me anchored off Atlantis Dive Resort resort and do a short shallow dive there. There is a small reef with a few brain coral heads and lots of life, life coral, and anemones. We saw plenty of colorful fish and a few cleaning stations. I saw a huge triegger fish. I have never seen one so big. Then we separated from the reef and started heading back slowly. I saw a black headshield slug and a pair of small Pegasus probably mating so close to each other. It was my first pair. I’ve seen them in pictures but I have never seen one on my own and no guide! 😉. That was super cool. The entire time I was thinking I was glad I wasn’t staying at that resort. Nothing amazing yet. It rained while we were under and the current had almost dessapeared. The vis was ok.
Log 693.15 ft. 35min. 14lbs. I came back with 500 psi
Then we went over to Mike’s resort a short drive from Harold’s and that is pretty much at the height of the Car Wreck. The resort itself is very nice, the rooms look nice with all the gadgets for diving and the pool

The rooms....look very nice with racks for dive gear and all. 3 dives and a room runs for almost $200 USD a day. is also very nice. We took a few shots with Ivy’s point and shoot because I wanted to blog about it. The prices for food were around 200 ph for a sandwich and beers 60ph. I took photos of the menu and the surroundings. We talked to the staff and they said that we can dive off their beach just paying for the sanctuary fee’s. We learn that Dauin beach is a sanctuary so no matter where we dive from we have to pay the park fees. I definitely want to go back to Mike’s and explore.
