Spent most of the night listening to the continuous rain and jst had it i need to get out of Prosperidad. Next morning still raining I left the town promising to come back when the weather is fine. Took a Bachelors bus out from a simple bus terminal next to the main road, it goes to Butuan then i connected to Cagayan de Oro. It is still raining but started to ease up as we approach Cagayan and was relieved to finally see bits of sun as i find a taxi in the chaotic bus terminal. I was dropped off at Wilshire Hotel the cheapest room is 450 with tv and a/c. There is a musty smell in the room, turned the a/c right away. I asked for info from the front desk about travels to ... read more

After so much consternation over where to have our Team Building, Cagayan de Oro was finally voted 11/10 against Bethany Garden in Ozamiz City. Cagayan de Oro is about four hours away, to the east of Ozamiz (For those from Manila, it is 1 hour 15 minutes by plane). Cagayan de Oro is known for its White Water adventure (and also for the canopy walk in Malasag). For our team building, we hired a white water rafting company, The Red Rafts, to handle our white water rafting adventure. We were told over the phone that for Php900.00 per pax, the package will include snacks, lunch, transportation to and from the site. On the day of the adventure however, we were only given the lunch, although it was a sumptuous one. For starters like us, who never ... read more

Time has not been an easy foe and I haven't had some real sleep for days. And when I finally thought I got one going well I got broken off it for some reason and realized I had been weeping in a dream I vaguely remember. I sat up and thought how I hated it when it gets to me. Sometimes it hits you hard enough that it stays through the day and sneaks up in your sleep. Some days you just never sleep at all. It was getting late but I was out of a drink and I haven't got a good book for leverage, so I went down to this restaurant close to the beach. It was a few meters behind the sea wall and with the open-air you could hear the waves coming ... read more

It was summer when we decided to get wet and hop to the nearest island in Jasaan. It is an off the beaten tourist destination. It still has to gain popularity with the beach combers and sun worhippers. The island is an alternative destination with the least cost and less travel time compared to boracay or bohol. The White Island is known also as The Agutayan Fish Sanctuary. It is located about 5 kilometers from the municipality of Jasaan. The white island facing Macajalar Bay is about 5,000 square meters with pure white sand. The island is ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming. Why go far, when you can go near? ---------- For more information Office of Tourism Jasaan, Misamis Oriental Tel Nos. (08822) 760099; 760076 ... read more

Today’s our last day here at Cagayan De Oro City or CDO. Similar to yesterday, De Oro Mountain Explorers or DOME (contact Jerome at 09194043930) shall take us to a day of thrill and adventure. We are spelunking at Kweba De Oro, which was first explored by DOME and first filmed with Beauty Queen and TV Host, Mirriam Quiambao. Afterwhich, we shall do what most tourists came to CDO for: Water Tubing, also known as Pinoy White Water Rafting. We were picked up from PNRoa at 7:30am. Via DOME’s jeep, it took us only 30 minutes to get to the cave’s point of entry. The cave is part of the municipality of Lumbia. We trekked for 20 minutes around the local’s backyards and wet farmlands till we got into the slippery mouth of Kweba De Oro. ... read more

For our next two days here in Cagayan De Oro, we have De Oro Mountain Explorers or DOME to entrust our lives to. Seriously! For the next two days, DOME shall take us to three ecotourism activities, namely: Canopy Walking at Claveria, Spelunking at Kweba De Oro, and Water Tubing (aka White Water Rafting Pinoy-Style) - I heard we are going to jump from a bridge too! As early as 7:30am, DOME’s jeep picked us up at PNRoa. We met Jerome (DOME president), Meg, and a few more of our guides for the day. "The Binary Tree" At around 9:00am, we set foot at Barangay Magbais, Claveria and started trekking for 30 minutes. This was a rather pampered trek because we were provided walking sticks and we didn’t have backpacks to carry. We noticed a strange ... read more

Cagayan De Oro, the City of Golden Friendship Thank God for Cebu Pacific’s 10 peso promo fare!!! We are now here at Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental (North Central Mindanao). Luckily, they have just switched to using VERY new planes. Thus, the travel experience onboard was superb. It has been six years since I’ve been here at my dad’s province. My mom and I headed straight to my Tito’s house in PNRoa. We took a cab, which was WAY better and newer than those that we have in Manila. What a shame, hehe! Anyhow, I was amused by the many structural changes we saw along the way. There were high end subdivisions located near the airport. There were new school buildings and ofcourse, an SM Mall by the entrance of PNRoa. I was enjoying the ... read more
