As the Chinese would say “the journey is the reward”.. Truly it is. We traveled for more than 6 hours by plane, taxi, bus, tricycle, ferry and a multicab but nothing is more rewarding than to set foot on Camiguin Island. We took the Air Philippines flight Friday (Nov.23) morning, 8:20 to be exact going to Cagayan de Oro. As expected there was a delay in the flight and they texted us a day before the flight that it was moved to 11:50 and I immediately called their office to transfer our flight to PAL because I need to go to Cagayan de Oro by 10 a.m. and without hesitation they transferred us to PAL’s 7:20 a.m. flight to CDO. So we arrived 8:30 to CDO’s Lumbia Airport and by 8:50 a.m. we were able to ... read more

We had lunch at a local cafeteria where we were greeted “Thank You and Camiguin”. I grinned. On their wall was a map of Camiguin Island and below it, says " Camiguin means ‘Come Again’ ”. Ahhhh... Now I get it! The Half Day Trip to Camiguin We made arrangements with the DOME jeepney driver so he could pick us up at 7:00am from PNRoa to Agora Market. It’s where we will be taking the bus that will take us to the Balingoan, which is still part of the province Misamis Oriental. To keep the story short, the jeepney brought us straight to the port of Balingoan. All the better! It was 9:20am when we got there. We could have arrived later if we took the bus. This Scary Ship Might Snap! We took the 10:00am ... read more

AUGUST 7: Our flight to Butuan was 7hrs delayed due to shortage of airplane. I was disappointed because of the hassle of waking up early just to get in the airport on time, thinking I should have been sleeping in my room by this moment; instead I'm here waiting doing nothing. Around 4:00pm our flight was finally called. I choose the seat near the center so that I can sleep and not be destructed by the windows scenery. Around 5:00pm we arrived in Butuan. We meet the person whom my cousin arranged our transportation weeks before our trip. I’ve noticed that he seems worried, I’m about to tell my wife about it when I saw we're heading to a small multicab (maybe he’s thinking how a 17 person including baggage can fit in a small multicab). ... read more

Finally found the time to do the blog for this trip! This was the first packaged / guided trip I’ve gone to - it was a Camiguin - Cagayan de Oro combi. As it was an arranged trip, I don’t know much about the logistics but can pretty much remember the places we’ve gone to. Going to Camiguin, we took the PAL flight to Cagayan de Oro. After a quick breakfast at the city, a private van took us to the Misamis Oriental sea port (travel time: 1.5-2 hours) where we caught the barge to Camiguin (travel time: 1.5 hours). In Camiguin, we were picked up by another private van and proceeded to Bahay-Bakasyunan resort. It was a pretty neat place and the food was great :) Camiguin, the island of the seven volcanoes, has only ... read more
