Me and my sister decided abruptly one Monday morning to check in at Island Cove coz we can't stand the heat of the summer that we were experiencing at that time. So we called Island Cove to make a reservation and luckily there were available rooms eventhough we didn't reserved in advance. We reserved their Hotel Deluxe room which is a 2 Queen Sized beds with veranda and a bath tub for I think around P3000 for an overnight stay. After reserving, we together with our kids and yayas immediately packed our bags and hired a taxi to get us there. We just checked in at the right time coz we arrived there a little over 2pm so we just put our bags in our room and took a quick nap then we decided to get ... read more

We left at 4am on what looked like a dump truck! It was horrible. But that was the best thing those kids could come up with and Im very proud of them for organizing the trip without much help from the adults. But yes, it was uncomfortable. Pico De Loro is two hour drive from Manila. And it takes two and a half hours to get to the top. I didnt have breakfast, I dont think anyone did. We also didnt get much sleep. Which is bad. I should have been the responsible adult to tell them to sleep early. But since I didnt get to sleep much and didnt have breakfast my energy was running out after just 20 minutes of hiking. We came across a station where there was running water coming from the ... read more

We just went for a swim last April17, 2008 at Water Camp, Kawit Cavite with my co-workers and their family. Water Camp is one of the few decent swimming resorts in Cavite at an affordable price. Entrance fee is P180 for adults and children 1 year old and above. There were available huts, tables, rooms and villas the cheapest is P300 for a table for 6 at the food court. There were also a playground for the children to enjoy and not very far is the Fisherman's Wharf where you can fish, play billiards, sing karaoke or just plain relax. The pools in itself are impressive, it boasts of a kiddie pool where children can swim and play at the same time with its mini-playground it's really cute! The adult pool is on the other side ... read more

I had the strangest experience in Cavite, which I feel is pretty symbolic of my trip so far. Cavite was he last stop on my trip to Southern Tagalog. We where going to the Cavite Municipal Jail to visit a Pastor who is being held there as a political prison. Pastor Berlin is one of the strongest men I have ever met. He has been active his whole life advocating for pro-people change in the Philippines. He decided to go into the seminary in order to lift up the most oppressed sectors in the country with the word of God. He wants to teach peseants and workers to think for themselves and demand their rights because he believes that God desires rights for all of his people. The Pastor was abducted 9 months ago. He was ... read more

We once went to a Farm Resort in Cavite, it's located in DasmariƱas, Cavite. I went there with a friend back in college, my sister and her bf. It was like just a hideaway since all of us seems to need a clean break. My friend just a bit borken hearted, me, i just needed peace, and my sister and her bf just want to get out of the house at times. So we left home around 9pm, fetch my friend and take c-5(in taguig) route to dasmariƱas, drop by at a gasoline station, have our car in full tank and drop by at seven eleven to buy some food. We arrived at Farm resort, past midnight as usual, since we got lost in the way to this place. This Farm resort was kind of secluded ... read more

We just arrived from a few days in the province/suburbs of Manila: Cavite where my family is from. Our Auntie Andy made us feel right at home and gave Jing and I a few lessons on the family tree. Our Jocson lot is actually abutts Y. Jocson St. I believe 5th generation Jocson. There is one newly built home next to my grandmothers home which is barely standing and, unbelievably, there are 6 people still living there. They are squatting there, according to my aunt. I just wonder how they survive the typhoons. Otherwise, it was great to see where all the family have come from. It is no surprise as to why the extended family remains to have such strong ties to one another. Truly, everyone is a cousin in some way or another. We ... read more
