BORACAY ISLAND

Hailed as the Beach Capital of the Philipines, the palm-studded island of Boracay is the perfect island getaway, with its warm blue waters, and powder-fine white sand.

In this tiny, butterfly-shaped island located in Aklan province at the northwestern tip of Panay in Western Visayas , 345 kms. South of Manila, days can be spent simply lazing on the beach while nights are for indulging in the tropical party lifestyle.

Nothing compares to the talcum-fine sand of the four-kilometer White Beach. I've been to different beaches with white sand, but still the sand from Boracay, stands the finest of them all.

The Island is divided into three Stations - 1, 2 ,3. Station 1, where there is the finest beach-part; Stn 2 - where nightlife and most restaurants are; Stn 3 - where you can find cheaper accomodations.

Getting There
It's been months of preparation - reseaching, scouting, making reservations, and saving, before i finally fulfilled my dream to land on this renowned island.

The island is accessible by air from Manila or Cebu through two principal gateways: Caticlan airport or Kalibo airport. From Caticlan airport, it will just be a 20-minute boat ride to the island.

What to do and see
- Kayaking
- Paraw- Sailing
- Banana-boat ride
- Island tour ( go to Puka Beach, Crocodile Island, Crystal Cove)
- Snorkeling
- Shopping
- have a massage along the beach (P200)
- watch the sunset (not to miss)
- simply beachcomb! (this is how we spent mostly our 3 days stay)

Where to Stay/Dine/Party
There are a lot of hotels, resorts and other accomodations in the Island. During Peak season (Summer, Oct15-onwards), make sure that you make your reservation first, because, it would be hard to find for accoms, since they are mostly fully-booked.

Restaurants are everywhere. But if you want for cheaper restos, you can go the D'Mall, or the Talipapa, where you can buy/eat in affordable prices.

Boracay is famous for its nightlife. Different bars offers different parties every night.

My recommended restos/bars:
- Jonah's Fruit Shake (their shakes are the best!)
- Mikay's Bar & Cuisine (located at D'Mall - they have big servings of food. love their sinigang na hipon)
- Charlhs - for an acoustic night. Jeric even jammed w/ the singer.
- Summer Place - great Party Place. Session Road kicked the floor, when we were there.

Budget
I spent almost Php 10,000 for my 4-day stay in Boracay. This includes the RT Airfare (Seair), Hotel Accom (Boracay Courtyard), Meals, Water Activities, and Pasalubong Items.

My neighbour island
I was born and raised in Sibuyan Island, just 4-5 hrs going to Boracay. I missed this place! Being away from the Philippines at the moment and looking at these photos just wishing I will be there again. Rey
