Monday Well - Pap & I got more rest than previous nights but still at 2:30 we heard the rooster under our window ruffle his feathers and then let out a lusty crow - we got the giggles and John & Jackie said that they heard us laughing - as you can see we are becoming family and hence the dilemma that surfaced that we must face on Tuesday. Later Pap & I got up in the early morning and did some reading and talking - When the kids got up we breakfasted on Dunkin Donuts and fresh mango - also hot coffee We packed up and cleaned up the house we are staying in and Art came to pick us up at 9 am but said that we could not go to Doans Rest until ... read more

We arrived into Baguio relieved at having escaped the bus journey through hell with our lives, but also exhausted from all the anxiety and having had to death grip the seats to fight gravity and avoid bouncing into the air at every bump or turn. But we were just out of the pan and into the fire. Of course we had tried to book accommodation for the Baguio Flower Festival before arriving, however, everywhere we had contacted had informed us they were fully booked. Adventurous as we are (or stupid, looking back) we had decided to go anyway, in the hope of finding somewhere to lay our heads for a few nights, agreeing we weren't too bothered about where or what it was. We had not however contemplated that we would arrive in a wrecked state ... read more

It was a special bonding trip with my little cousins and little brother (who are not so little anymore), we initially wanted to go to El Nido in Palawan, then changed the plan to Coco Beach Resort in Puerto Galera, until we finally settled with Food Trip in Baguio - Surfing in La Union - and the 100 islands in Pangasinan. For our first stop, we managed to get on a non-stop Deluxe Bus bound to Baguio - we had our own 'special' lounge while waiting for departure, a bus hostess, snacks, toilet, comfy reclining seats and free Wi-Fi; oh, Hollywood! We left at midnight and arrived just before 5:00 in the morning. The taxi driver we hired helped us find an affordable hotel since we didn't had prior reservations. And as affordable as it was, ... read more

It’s October 9, 2010 and I’m 26 years old… The only thing I want to do in my special day is to be thankful to all the people who have been a part of my past and present years. And my only prayer is for them to know how grateful and appreciative I am, that they have been an essential ingredient in my simple yet blissful life. They will always be remembered by me… So I took a rewind of my time and saw all the people that have greatly influenced me… First, I want to thank our God the Creator for giving me a decorated life… Second, My Family, from my Grandparents, Dad, Mom, my 2 Siblings, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles… Third, I want to thank my “Barkada” for letting me feel and believe ... read more

I'm Armie Lawrence Leyva Yuson and I call myself a "Happy Loner Traveller" Why? It's because whenever I go to other places, I usually go out alone and I never felt sad but rather I'm happy because I could discover things and understand more of myself, it's like I'm with Me, trying to get to know myself better and still discovering my own secrets and potentials in life... I'm learning to appreciate the gifts that God gave for our eyes to see and that is the beauty of his world... and feel how much God loves us... and I'm also a hopeless romantic still waiting for my Fairy Princess to come and become the breath of my simple yet unique life... I have my own perception of True Great Love, I even wrote a book ... read more

Last August 2009, my family and I went to Baguio City, which is located at the northern part of the Philippines. We did not go to the usual tourist spots there such as Mines View, Camp John Hay and Burnham Park since we have already visited those places many times before. What made this Baguio trip special was our stay at the Baguio Country Club. Apart from their excellent facilities, this place is where you can find good food. When you get a chance to go there, I recommend that you try their delectable pastries; raisin bread and ensaymada. Sumptous breakfast is served, and they also offer buffet during dinner time. I also recommend Hamada, a Japanese Restaurant inside the country club where the chefs cook on-the-spot and right in front of you. Baguio Country Club ... read more

When it was decided last week that we needed to take a day-long trip to the City of Baguio, and people started hearing about it, it turned out that everyone wanted to come too. So Warlito (aka Wally), the husband of Juliet (Ben Sr’s daughter) talked to his friend who owns a bus and learned that we could charter it for a day. As usual, I’ll digress to talk about the local transportation system. All of the vehicles that provide transportation to the public are privately owned and come in four basic sizes. The tricyle is the most localized and takes a few people at a time - to the bus stop or shopping from home is a very common use for them. There are taxis that are just like taxis at home. Then there are ... read more

Before we left the States we had decided that we wanted to get tattoos while we were in the Philippines. At first we were thinking that we would all get the same tattoo in the same place. Yesterday (2/9) we had the opportunity to go to Baguio City for the day and we decided to use our time there to get our planned tattoos. We still didn’t know exactly what we wanted, but we figured we would pick something once we got to the “shop.” On the drive up to Baguio we decided that it would be a bit boring to show off our new tattoos if they were all the same thing and so we decided to request different ones, still not knowing what we wanted. The decision to put them in the same location ... read more

Ok, so by now you must have noticed that I'm not a big one for museums, churches, etc, but my trip to Baguio was spent walking the streets and visiting the Orchidarium, and if you don't like flowers, just click out of here. The trip to Baguio was again on Victory Liner for P232, with Air Con. I booked a room at the La Brea Inn right on Lower Session Rd, for P1100 a night. Great staff, right in the midst of all the action in Baguio. Nice clean room with hot water!! Very important if you haven't guessed. I spent 2 days here before my trip to Sagada. Here are a few pic's of the flowers at the Orchidarium, and yes they are not all orchids, or maybe they are. Next stop Sagada!!!!... read more

On sunday morning I awoke to an e-mail telling me to wake up (thanks Kiran x), and a mild excitment about the next leg of my journey, a flight from Hong Kong to Clark in North Luzon, Philippines. My dad drove me to the airport which I'm glad he did cause I had problems... One of the major aims of my trip was to do as little flying as possible, so i will be attempting a lot of overland travel (although, as little as possible here... you'll see), and I will only have a limited number of flights across the whole of Southeast Asia and Australia. When I attempted to check in for my flight I was asked about return details, which I didn't have any, but I did have an onward flight to Kota Kinabalu, ... read more
