I didn’t realize that I hadn’t been feeling like myself until I suddenly felt like myself again. I was somewhere in rural northeastern India, on an overnight train heading towards the India-Nepal border. As I woke up, I glimpsed out the window and caught a view of the sun rising over endless rice paddies and a handful of water buffalo wading neck-deep in a waterhole. The tranquility of the image snapped me back to reality. I’d been in a city for far too long. I was so caught up in the fast-paced lifestyle – the nights of dancing and the convenience at having everything no farther than my fingertips – that I wasn’t even aware that I was losing balance. Cities are fun, but when it comes down to it, I’m not a city girl. I ... read more

We decided after our big hike that we would take a completely different adventure and try out Canyoning. I'll admit this was completely my idea and my convincing. However it turned out great and we had a blast. So many people don't know what canyoning is. So first off I'll explain that. Canyoning is when you adventure down a canyon through various methods such as, abseiling (rappelling), sliding down rock chutes, jumping walking and sometimes swimming. In our case we did not do any real swimming other then being dunked at the end of some of our slides. Ok so to start at the beginning. The trip starts in Kathmandu with a "mere 3 hour drive to the borderlands resort." Or so they say. First off we started late as some of the tourist clearly didn't ... read more

The main aim of our trip to Nepal was to do some serious rafting for few days. Well, I guess plan are made to be changed. We headed early morning to the Bhote Koshi Valley. Our schedule was pretty tied and I couldn't find any decent river to raft in 3 days. So we did sign for a 2 days trip rafting on the Bhote Koshi as well as one day of canyoning, staying two nights in the camp of Borderlands. Bhothe Koshi translate in Nepalese as the Tibetan River, flowing as its name indicates it from Tibet, just 15 km up the road from the Borderlands Camp. This is also the main highway from Nepal to Tibet, which technically also means, the main road from India to China in the area. The road was ... read more

Yeah, i know you might think: can this girl ever get enough of the adventure sports? but i have to tell you, this one is a must do for the whiterwater enthusiasts, and so i simply could not pass the chance to go on a 2-day raft trip with Drift Nepal. According to the "travel bible" Lonely Planet, the Bhote Khosi is "one of the best short raft trips found anywhere in the world", and now i can tell you that IT IS SO TRUE! Amazing white water- non stop rapids great 3-5, big water, plenty of rocks to avoid, and on top of all that a stunning scenery through the valleys, with rice fields and villages along the way! (well, you don't have to much time to check out the scenery, because you are constantly ... read more

We had high hopes for Nepal. Partly because we were tired and hot in India and partly because we'd heard (and Ade had experienced some) of the adventure possibilities. It didn't fail to impress. We arrived at Kathmandu airport in the afternoon and were quickly swarmed by eager taxi drivers. We chose one and so set off to Thamel, the tourist district. En route we chatted to the driver and his compadre who both welcomed us to Nepal and commented on how hot it was at the moment. We replied that it was at least 10 degrees cooler than Delhi where we'd just come from and therefore, bliss. It was immediately apparent that the Nepali people were more laid back and willing to make friendly conversation with tourists than sell them something. Wohoo, a break from ... read more
