Hi Everybody! FYI: Jim, our fellow traveler, finished high school and college with Walt. They took ROTC at JSU and both retired as Army Lt. Colonels. People in this part of Mongolia refer to the tents as gers. When I taught students about the tents, they were called yurts. I believe the Mongols in western Mongolia use this term.

We walked a long distance to a former Buddhist monastery, but it is now a mediation center. On the way, we passed many sayings of Buddha.

The nomads use horses to help them move their yurts. I imagine they do it like our Plains Indians moved their tepees with a travois.

We went up into the top of the statue and walked out on a small walkway to get this photo.

This boot was in the lobby of the museum. It took 25 calf skins to make it. This is a popular boot in Mongolia. All of the members of the symphony orchestra had on boots like this in white.
