The rather impressive statue of Chinggis Khaan at the site where he found a golden whip. 40m high and pointing east to his birthplace.

Apparently they are going to build 200 gers and lots more horse statues, it should be rather impressive once finished.

THE place to shop in UB. Actually a really good department store with an excellent souvenir shop on the top floor, cost me a pretty Tughrik or two.

I said my goodbyes to Mongolia with a huge plate of the delicious Buuz dumplings at the airport, so tasty.

With a quick stopover in Beijing I took a walk to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

At a scorching 37C I didn't wander about too much outside. I remembered why my previous visits to Beijing were never in the summer.

Volunteering again
Good for you for picking some great locations. Mongolia is on my short list so I truly enjoyed reading this one. Great stuff. Will continue to follow along. MJ
