Cenang is the main tourist area in Langkawi and is a real jewel. A beautiful beach, fabulous for swimming and the home to stunning sunsets on the island. I know I've written posts about Cenang before but it really is chillin' on the beach time. Cenang is normally a day off from looking after the boat and for meeting up with friends from all parts of the island. I have many ex pat friends who live in Cenang who I spent a long time with last year, and have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with them once more and introducing them to some new friends. Big Colin, who was a fireman in Glasgow for many years and a real character who loves his magic, and my friend Luan especially, her son Gabriel and I have become really close friends, she's such a wit, and to be honest she should be a comedienne on the stage. She's such a strong, beautiful women and I love her to bits. It's great that some of my traveling friends are here to, Janice and Pete who love it, Steve who has become great friends with Rod who has a catamaran and leads him astray often. My friend Robert whom I was inseparable from last year with our partner in crime the lovely Danny Brown and he enjoys coming out to meet us too.
I introduce my friends to some of the yachties that come out to play from Kuah, and it's lovely to have Drew back from work to join in with the fun. Drew has enjoyed meeting everyone, he enjoys Cenang which is where we first met in Little Lylia's and became firm friends instantly and he doesn't mind an afternoon chillin' by the beach at all. Gie, who owns Little Lylia's is a real cool dude, he's just out to make people happy and has a real chilled place right on the beach. His girls are growing up quick but he's not, he just bought himself a brand new Harley for his 50th birthday!! The neighbouring beach bar is Rafii's which is another favorite spot and although Rafii passed away suddenly last year, it certainly hasn't lost it's charm. The girls from the yacht club come out to play and I introduce them to Colin, Steve and Alang and we have a real fun night. The place tends to fill up in the evening, Luan, Robert, maybe Janice and Pete too, and it's always a fun night. We normally go over late afternoon to enjoy the many stunning sunsets while having a sundowner in Rafii's or Little Lylia's and just relax by the beach.
Any time we go, we always meet friends old and new which is great. A couple of Drew's friends Tayler and Neil met us there and were coming to stay on the boat for a week or so which was fantastic, other friends of his were Valerie and Evelein we met for the night as well as well as many more, one in particular I remember was a young James Bond look a like... very handsome, (look at the back of Rob's photo). Ahh... I wonder why I love this place. Hazy, lazy, funny... Langkawi dayz...
