Today we went on a mangrove tour. On the way there, we passed a few villages and I sweat they looked the same as those that I am used to seeing in Mauritius. They looked exactly the same.
We were driven to a jetty where we caught a boat. First up was a rock where it was made of limestone with trees/mangroves growing out of it. Our guide was very informative and told us that only in South East Asia you would see those limestone islands coming out of the ocean, like there and Vietnam for example. On those trees were bats, bats live there to get away from predators. If a monkey was let out here, there would be no bats. The only predator they fear is the eagle and that's why when they sleep during the day, they are under leaves and hiding from eagles.
Close to that island, some fish were also fed and those were quite beautiful. They were quite large, around 10cm long with black and yellow stripes. Once bread was thrown in, it was a feeding frenzy. We were given the chance to feed them as he gave all of us bread to
feed to them.
After that, we went to a fish farm, where this was much better than yesterday. He was quite informative as to what was there, we saw a leopard shark, barracudas, sting rays and a few others I can't remember! As he was informing us of the different type of fish living there, he was also feeding them. Some fish were aggressive whilst others not so.
After the fish farm, we went to a bat cave – a cave that was filled with bats, our guide told us more than 1,000 bats lived there. He shone a torch over them and it was quite scary at first seeing all these bats but they were all sleeping so they didn't seem to mind the light, plus they're also blind. Through the cave, we went to see more mangroves. This time, they were close and you could touch them and see how they grow out of the water. Monkeys were also stalking us for food and water. Our guide made sure that we had no food and water with us but some other tourist group, those idiots were mucking around with the monkeys by teasing them with food and water and
when the monkeys reached for them and became aggressive the tourists ran away and became scared and caused chaos not just for their group, but for everyone. Bunch of idiots, they should just leave the monkeys alone. Our guide had to calm everyone down, even the monkeys.
After the monkeys, we went to see more mangroves, eagle feeding and more monkeys. The eagle feeding wasn't as interesting as yesterday but I was able to still get some nice pictures. As we went past, more monkeys were stalking us for food but we left them alone.
After that, it was time for lunch – it was the same place as the fish farm and we had a buffet lunch, consisting of fried rice, rice, fried chicken which tasted like KFC, spring rolls, vegies, curry and a seafood soup which I soaked my rice into. The food was quite nice by itself, the spring rolls were nice and after that, I was quite stuffed.
After lunch was a quick swim in the sea which we didn't because we didn't have swimmers and worried about jellyfish and bluebottles which happened yesterday so we just played on the beach before heading back to our hotel.
