Although we are still living a pretty lavish life style with a roof top swimming pool, rain head shower 28 story's up and a TV, we feel as though we spent the day becoming pretty cultured. Started the day fresh with a family session of skipping and TRX (which the pro made look easy) got our sweat on which never ceased the entire day. Our first activity was to catch a train (careful not to put josh on the ladies only carriage) to the Batu Caves were we learnt our first lesson 'to research what your going to look at' we have since read up to find that it is place of prayer and sacrifice for the Indian and Hindu religion of Malaysia. 272 stairs and a pretty sweet looking sarong later we found our selfs surrounded by children's toys bright lights and some more stairs. Had a moment of fame when an Indian couple insisted we took a picture with them while he laughed (Pretty sure the funny thing was us being the only white people there). After a couple more photos with Hindus God (aka the massive gold man) and a run in with the monkeys at the gate
(who didn't want a bar of Joshua's peanut sacrifice but rather his Pringles in his back pack). We visited fake caves within a real cave? Plastic sprayed rock on to real rock, inside we're statues all shapes and sizes brightly coloured depicting parts of history. Opened in 1995 I think it's more of a tourist trap but we enjoyed seeing the Chinese tourists scale the stairs backwards. we jumped back on the WONDERFULLY air conditioned train and started drying out.... we called ourselves glowing... Others may have called us sweaty. Next stop Chinatown! Once we discovered the courage to barter we found ourselves (especially Anna) bargaining down the Ringit and saving 35 ringit right away the equivalent of 13 NZD ! after we spent some time wandering and emersing ourselves into this bartering culture, we found a lovely little Chinese stand were we devoured some ice cold tiger beer and some interesting tasting dishes, which were for the most part yum. We decided that a swim would go nicely with the day so headed back in the direction of the apartment, on our way we assumed the safest place to go Toilet would be KFC so while josh checked out
the menu Brit and I found out that doesn't matter where you go a hole in the ground is what your greated with, we were brave and went for it, decision made, they are probably better than a normal toilet given you don't take a little fall. Josh also announced that the bum washing station in the apartment is quite envigorating..? a few tiger beersies for the road and it was out to have a snack at the sky bar by the pool. keeping in the traveler sprit we ordered entrees to share and had an extra round of beer to make up for the shortfall, made the most of the washing machine as we pack our bags to get ready to say bye to KL!
