Batu Caves
The stairs leading up to the caves We have been here a few days so decided just to do one blog to take us up today which is the 15th.

Our first proper day in Kuala Lumpur and we decided to visit a place just outside the city called Batu Caves, it’s a huge limestone cave that is used as a Hindu Shrine it has an absolutely giant gold statue outside and there are 270 steps up to the cave entrance. We arrived at the caves right in the hottest part of the day which made climbing the steps quite an effort! There are loads and loads of monkeys running around on the steps and in the caves. A particularly big one snarled at us as we walked past it. Siobhan claims that Dan antagonised the monkey by trying to grab its tail, Dan refutes the claim.
The Caves were quite impressive, worth the walk up the steps.
Later on we went for some food at a restaurant called ‘The Ship’ all the staff are dressed up according to their position so the Manager is the captain etc. We had the biggest glasses of coke we have ever seen, and steak! We were thoroughly
stuffed after that so headed back to the hotel.

We woke up mega early so that we could jump on the LRT (a series of underground and monorail train lines on which you can travel around the city for next to no money) to the Petronas Twin Towers. The towers are the tallest twin towers currently in the world and was at one point, the tallest building in the world.
Tickets to go up the tower to the sky bridge (a walkway on the 41st floor that connects both towers) are free but limited so we got there at 8am and there was a massive queue already. We got our tickets sorted and went into Suria which is a huge shopping centre under the towers. We did some window shopping in Cartier, Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Harrods! Decided not to buy anything although we saw some cigars for 10,000 pounds that we were tempted by haha.
When our time slot came up we went back to the Twin Towers and after watching a 3d film, which was just a big advert for how awesome Petronas is as company, we got the lift up to the sky bridge.
The view from up there was amazing and we took a load of pictures.
After a siesta back at our hotel we went out in the evening to a crafts market called Central Market. Our hotel is right in the middle of china town, and at night the whole place turns into a huge market selling fake designer bags/watches etc. We had a look round and Dan bought a fake Franck Muller watch. One street in Chinatown is taken up with street vendors selling chinese food all really cheap. We ate outside on this street before heading back to the hotel.

We went back to Suri shopping mall to get out of the heat for a while and bought a street map, and then left there and walked around for a while headed to an area called Bukit Bintang, where there are yet more shopping centres and loads of bars and restaurants. It started to absolutely pour down with rain so we dived into a bar had a couple drinks whilst we waited for it to stop. We left that bar and headed to a road with loads of bars on it and ended up in an
Petronas Towers
Us up on the sky bridge on the 41st floor Irish bar. (as per usual!) Got chatting to an Australian chap who splits his time between KL and Melbourne. We ended up chatting with him most of the evening and he took our contact details offering us dinner when we get to Melbourne. Siobhan was disappointed to hear BBQ on the beach on Xmas day doesn’t actually happen!

Didn’t wake up until the afternoon, and decided to go to the cinema as it is so cheap. After pizza for dinner we went to watch GI Joe. Think it cost 2 pounds to watch a film and the cinema was one of the best we’ve seen. Afterwards Siobhan bought a handbag and we went outside to take pictures of the towers at night. We walked back to the hotel via a few bars. One of which had promotion where your first beer costs 20RM (about 4 quid) and after that it’s 1RM! Brilliant! We met drunk Chinese and drunk Indian men.
It is our last day here tomorrow so we won't be doing much aside from packing up our bags ready for the flight to Oz and doing some laundry.
There is a mosque nearby that we
keep spotting on our travels so we may visit there.

Still jealous as hell!!!!
Hey guys....turn my back for 5 mins and 3 entries appear!! It's amazing how much of a buzz we get when there's a new entry cos it feels like we're living the trip with you. The Towers are incredible and the night shot is a great photo. Can't believe you didn't treat yourselves to a £10k cigar! Have nothing but respect for you both for that journey sounds like hell but well worth it I'm sure. Good that you've got a contact in Melbourne, and Siobhan if you want a bbq on xmas day then you have one!! Look forward to hearing again soon from Oz. Safe journey xx
