Another jam packed day has just come to an end!! Started fresh with the first real night of full sleep for all of us. Our flight from Macau has us coming into KL in the middle of the night.. Air Asia... nice and easy. Decent flight, though freezing cold on board. We were all bagged and took no time to fall asleep after our midnight arrival at the hotel. In smart fashion we had selected an airport hotel, as the journey into KL takes ages... so we shaved some time there. Also, we have to be up and out tomorrow at 0500 for our flight to Borneo... so being at the airport made more sense again. Packed in a mighty Pan Pacific breakfast... and took a taxi into KL. This often proves the cheapest option for us... as public transport for 4 is often more expensive. A taxi was about 1/2 the price of the train... and it took us right to the foot of the Petronas Towers. Stunning bulidings and as amazing to view as the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Spent the day sightseeing.... the bird park / butterfly park / KL tower. Late evening stroll through the markets of Chinatown. Kids seem to be coming better with the heat and humidity. For the last hour of the day Luca was asleep in the stroller... so no chance ever of any memories of our Chinatown stroll. He loved the bird park... and the fish & turtles at the butterfly farm. Riel wanted to shop shop shop in the evening markets. Overall a great day... and I love this city. Tordes has been before, so this is 'round 2' for her. I can't wait to be back here later this trip for a couple more days. I can really see why people like this city as it has such a nice vibe.
At least this entry has not been interrupted by a small child. Yesterday Luca decided to do a #2 in his shorts... though we were in the departure lounge and I was using the free web access..... no extra diapers or underwear for him (all had been checked through with our bags)... and he was already going 'commando' as he had peed in his underwear earlier when asleep in the stroller. So, small nightmare for daddy.... and a big mess. Another lesson learned.
Must fly... up in 6 hours... flying off to Borneo to enjoy some time with the red apes tomorrow afternoon. More later...
Some people say that they like to travel to escape from the 'real world'........ we like to travel to find it! During this journey I will be leading a tour group of 20 Canadians through Saudi Arabia for 14 days!!! Starting in Riyadh and ending in Jeddah. Covering everywhere in between (Abha / Dammam / Sakaka / Jouf / Ha'il / Madain Saleh / Najran). Then a quick pit stop in Dubai and Kuwait on the way home!... full info
