Route to Pulau Besar

Destinations going as planned

We've been running a bit behind schedule here (we left Perhentian Islands already 6 days ago), that's how it is when you're having fun. We're trying our best to catch up....

We leave the jungle train behind us at Tanah Merah (oef) early morning and arrive by taxi at Kuala Besut an hour later. From this port a speedboat will take us to what we've been looking forward to: Perhentian Islands.

There are 2 Islands: Besar= Big and Kecil= Small

The moment you step in the boat, a feeling of 'Wauw' comes over you! The expression on the kids faces tells it all, look at Asks big smile 😊 ! The Perhentian Islands are truly magnificent, it has everything you could wish for, for an unforgetable beach holiday.

The boat cruises us trough beautifull clear blue waters surounded by beautifull views of Jungle and drops us at Teluk Dalam beach on Pulau Besar. Fine beaches, coconut palms, little boats laying on the water, ready to bring people to another beach or Island (water taxi (teksi)) or ready to take them for a snorkle or dive trip.

Highlights of our 4days here:

A snorkel trip with Asma from B-first, the chalet where we stayed (very basic but they served delicious food and the friendlyness is overwhelming compared to metro in morning in Brussels). By our surprise during our first snorkel at Shark Bay, we litteraly ended up swimming above fairly big black tip reef sharks...--> strange sensation goes trough you, a mix of anxiety and attraction... We swam with a huge green turtle, we saw alligator fish, sea snake, blow fish, barracuda and lots of colorfull reef fish. Jesper is happy he still has his nipples left... the fish thought those where a piece of bread!

Walk through the jungle and an encounter with a huge monitor lizard, huge ants, no monkeys and no gecko's.

Our hosts at B-first made a nice bbq on the beach every evening and served freshly caught seafood: King prawns, deep sea lobsters, squid, crab, snappers...

The trip's first fresh coconut and games on the beach ( Skye tested our runnig speed )

Just being in the ocean all day long, in search for little nemo's....Liv's favourite activity and slowly Skye gets contaminated too.

Very friendly people and not crowded (at this time of the year, don't come in august) and they love babies!
