Mt.Kinabalu
on the way up Malaysia has been so wonderful, maybe a little tiring because there is so much to do and see, but still wonderful. The last two weeks have flown by like crazy. I flew into Kota Kinabalu on the 1st of June and by the time I went to bed I met a couple guys to climb Mt.Kinabalu with and we were off the next day. To climb this mountain you need to book an extremely overpriced room at the top and also pay like $30 to reach the peak, but that’s not it, you also MUST get a guide. Now we all decided this was way to expensive to climb a mountain(we figured it out to about $80+ by the time all is said and done) and with a little info on how some others avoided these costs we thought we’d do it in one day instead of two. Sneaky, sneaky we were through the gate and up the mountain bright and early in the morning but had to an additional 5k to the entrance. The hike to the lodges was not so bad and we arrived about 9:30am but I wasn’t feeling so good and the tips of my fingers

My photography dive, my favorite were numb and tingly (not sure why), so I decided to hang out and not go to the peak. Turns out when the guys got to the top they were really dizzy and seeing spots (altitude sickness perhaps), so I was glad I didn’t go but all in all it was still a really nice hike. We stayed outside the park at the loudest place I’ve yet to stay, it was owned by a Chinese guy and all his buddies get together there and drink and play the loudest game of Mahjong I’ve ever seen. Oh and how could I forget, Jeremy, the English guy (50+) who was living there, complete ass, he expressed his hate for everything and everyone, racist, he really got to me like no one has in I don’t know how long. To say the least I didn’t like it there but we did meet a guy there who offered to take us to the hot springs and to stay at his place for free with dinner and movies and beer. It was quite nice.
The next stop was the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center where they rescue imprisoned and orphaned Orangs and try to

on the way up help them return to the wild. They let you in for the feeding twice a day and the Orangs come and some entertain. They are a really fascinating animal, the closest to a human and you can really see it in there looks and body language. One little girl even swung of a tree and landed right beside me on the deck, it was adorable. A couple days there and I was on the road again, mission to see elephants along the Kinabatangan River, which I guess I missed by a day. I was a little disappointed but what can you do? I was a nice boat ride and I seen Probiscus monkeys, mycack monkeys and a snake. Good enough.
By this time I had heard so many good things about Sipidan, one of the worlds top dive spots, and just had to go. I swear I’m becoming addicted to diving, every time I go I love it and appreciate it even more. I took my Advanced Open water course and 3 fun dives with Scuba Junkies, the best and cheapest place to dive and stay in Semporna.. But people if you do this BOOK IT before you

on the way up go; of coarse I didn’t and ended up staying in a bit of a shit hole for 2 of the nights. I’ve never seen anything like this and doubt I will again unless I return, and I’m sure I will. There I saw my first and 50th turtle and sharks, triggers, micro seahorse and all kinds of things, overwhelming a little because it’s hard to focus on anything. All the people at the shop were really cool too and the other divers too, I spent four days and would have loved to end my trip there do my masters and just hang out, but I couldn’t and now I’m back in the capital and chillin out fore a few days trying to confirm some ticket and a room for a Rain Forest Music Festival in July.
Sorry my blogs are getting shorter and dull, but I’m lacking in the motivation department to write them at all. I’ll try to keep them up though, I promise and I’ll do pics regardless
