Malaysia Eating at food stalls with Thai International's manager in Penang On Penang island we were hosted by the E&O (Eastern & Oriental)...a Colonial hotel built in 1885 (now closed). We were just seated for dinner in its stuffy, formal dining room when Thai International's Manager swept in. He was a jovial - and somewhat loud - Chinese Malay who said "you don't want to eat in this place" and took us out to a night market of food stalls serving an amazing array of seafood. Delicious and fun! We took a funicular up to a Buddhist temple, which had many snakes...kept sleepy by the smell of incense. We were so fortunate to book a Home Exchange at 8 Gurney in Penang. We had the entire 6000 sq. ft. 17th floor penthouse to ourselves! Lazy days spent at the pool, soaking the sun up at Batu Ferringhi Beach and exploring Georgetown, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our apartment was like a museum; Buddha statues inside and on the wrap around balcony, gorgeous Chinese pottery, Art pieces everywhere and Asian Bric Brac scattered throughout. In Penang, we are introduced to Grab, the company that put Uber out of business in Malaysia. Our condo is centrally located so grab fares to Batu Ferringhi beach is about $6 Can/18 RM and Georgetown $2 Can/6 RM. What a foodie paradise. So many restaurants and street food markets. We were disappointed this morning to find that it was raining. But it was still very hot and humid, so we carried on with our plans to go ashore. Maybe 35 - 38 degrees we think. The cruise port in Penang is rather small, but they did have a good exchange bureau, so we used the €30 we got back from the Indian Rupees to buy a few Ringgits. As it was still raining, we thought the best thing to do was to try to catch a bus. Penang has a free bus service that goes around George town, so we thought that would be a great place to start. Budicek mi zaobstarala studentska kapela co obdalec ubytka nacvicovala. Na whatsapp mi pipla sprava od cs z cdo, ze spolocnu cestu po polsku rusi a bude cestovat sama. To mi len zahralo do kariet, bo com som kukal letenky do gdansku moc ruzovo to z gruzinska, turecka resp grecka nevyzeralo. Tym padom sa asi moj navrat domov priblizi, no ale uvidim podla penez, mozno oddiali ale to nepredpokladam. Na ranajky zapadam k indovy na ulici. Davam si dvakrat roti s vajcom a cibulou, k tomu nesmie chybat klasicka omacka a samozrejme caj. Ten sa povie tak ako po nasi, proste caj. No tento je indicky t.j. mlieko. Velmi chutny napoj.
