ooh oooh, Ahh ahhhh! . . .Er . . . I mean, we've landed in the jungle of Taman Negra National Park 😊 Taman Negra National Park covers 3 areas of Malaysia, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. The rainforest has been recorded to be 130 million years old and is the oldest tropical rainforest on the planet as it was not affected by an ice age and has no volcano activity nearby. We are staying in a wooden hut about a mile out of the main spot for entering the park which is really peaceful, the only noise we get is of the surrounding jungle. . .

The first day we went rapid shooting, which basically means you go thrashing into a rapid head first in a thin river boat and get absolutley drenched! good fun! after our drenching we stopped of at Oran Asli Village where Abroriginal people still populate areas of the jungle and are the only people allowed to live off the jungle. They showed us traditional ways to start a fire and how to make weapons used for hunting after which we had a go at firing a blowpipe at a target . . . got it
in first time, get in there! 😊

Yesterday we went off into the jungle for a walk and came across giant ants, monkeys and a snake, which Jess tried to photograph in a haste but the snake took a quick sharp exit! Last night the sky was full of stars, as there is no light polution, and on the horizon amongst the clouds we whitnesed the most amazing electrical storm but with no thunder . . .

Today we trod into a different area of the rain forest and then scaled up onto a canopy that reaches heghts of 60 metres into the trees, is 500 metres long and is considered to be the longest in the world. With heights not being my favourite past time I enjoyed the views through gallons of sweat pouring from my head, whilst clinging onto the canopy swaying from side to side (I'm really enjoying this honestly!) the local monkeys had a good laugh at my expense 😊

It has been great spending some time here and is a really good place to just chill out and do nothing especially if you are out of the way like we are, with no noise, away from everything and able to view the jungle at it's best both in rain and shine 😊
