Hellooo, we are kind of swimming away at the moment so it's perfect timing to update our blog.....we've already attempted updating our blog again once but it is getting to be a bit of a chore.....anyway we're stuck in the hotel at the moment while god flushes the toilet.
Ok, here goes...After the Cameron highlands we headed south to Kuala Lumpur...we stopped in the china town part that had a really good market....original copy Rolex's for only 'cheap cheap'...we went to see the twin towers and we were lucky enough to get tickets to go up to the sky bridge. Like every big city K.L. has got a shopping centre which was perfectly airconditioned and was where we seemed to spend most of our time, we even had a few trips to the cinema. The bus drivers in K.L. are a bit strange, they seem to shout at every person passing by and try to tempt them onto the bus regardless of where they were going.
After living in the comfort of a shopping centre for nearly a week we felt the need to get a bit closer to nature, so we went to a tiny little village called
We're on the bridge...
we're on the bridge.....world cup fever setting in... Kuala Selangor to see the amazing fire flies..... it was a beautiful view, a lovely boat trip and it would have been even nicer if we didn't have a chinese family on our boat that couldn't be quiet for a minute...but the fire flies did look cool, they all flash simultaneously and give the effect that all the trees on the river bank have christmas lights.
From there we went to Melaka via K.L. Melaka is quite a pretty town... looks very dutch. It has got windmills and lovely houses, but no canal. Its not very big so it didn't take long to walk round and see the sights... but we had great fun playing with a baby turtle which we caught in the river and we've seen some UGLY fish things that kind of walked on water...we stopped off in this nice little bar one night that had a club singer man, it was really funny actually cos we were the only people there so he was singing just for us.
We then got a super VIP bus to Singapore... that bus was one comfy bus!!! We stopped in a really nice dorm in Little India,
Hmmmmmmmm
where next... the hostel had only just opened so everything was spotless and the showers were the best we've had so far. Singapore is a bit pricey when your travelling on a budget so we only stopped 2 nights..the main event of our 1 full day in the city was going to the science centre, it was a bit childish but lots of fun...what wasn't funny was when we were on the bus back to malaysia and I (Jamie) couldn't find my passport...I forced the express bus driver to pull over on the motorway and head back to the hostel in a panic to search the room, after searching the room with no luck I was in the depths of despair, when low and behold the elevator doors opened and Frauke was stood there with my passport in her hand... I just forgot to look in the little pocket of my handbag. Oooopps!
So with the stress of a lost passport gone we enjoyed our trip to the Island of Tioman. We had a really nice time chilling out on a beach for a week...and seen this weird old man that seems to be following us around, we have already seen
him in thailand and in KL, funny thing was when this big lizard climbed up the wall of his chalet and into his room. The best was when I went snorkeling and swam with some sea turtles...totally awesome dude!!!
We were actually planning on going to Indonesia but with the volcano erupting, then the earthquake and the landslides we were having second thoughts and stopped in Malaysia even though we already had flights booked and couldn't get them refunded...the real clincher tho was the british embassy warning that terrorist were planning attacks against western tourists. We're not too keen on meeting any suicide bombers. So we decided to see the malaysian rainforest instead and fight our way through the jungle.. maybe playing with monkeys...lions and tigers and bears..Oh my...
speak to you all again soon, as long as we dont get eaten by anything!!!!
