I went back to my village in Jitra, Kedah for two weeks. I really need this break after a very depressing final semester. I just need to calm down and sort my life out. I wouldn't be talking about Kedah this time instead I'm going to write about my short trip to Perlis by bike! It was a one day trip but was a very fun one indeed! I noticed that not many tourists or even traveler ever bother to come to Perlis (including me) but Perlis really got something to offer. I'm stunned by the spectacular view in the rural areas. You think you've seen enough of spectacular view of paddy field? Wait till you come to Perlis! AMAZING!
On 7th June 2011, Faeza finally agreed to bring me for a ride around. We decided to go to Perlis since I am eager to get my feet in a cave. We wanted to go to gua Kelam, a famous cave in Perlis but we were told that it was closed for some renovation. I was disappointed. Anyway, we did continue our intention to go to Perlis and straight we headed to Kangar in search of a waterfall. It took
us about 45minutes from Jitra to Kangar. It was a slow and fun ride through several villages like Tunjang, Kandih, and Kodiang We had our time chatting and laughing on the bike! There were a lot to see and at times you can just stop by an interesting morning market to have a look for unique local items on sale. Interesting!
We tried very hard to configure the road to the waterfall. It took us quite awhile but we managed to find it at last. It was a small road passing by rural villages, nice forest and a grape farm. Yes, a grape farm! It was so nice and I did took my time embracing the journey. We finally arrived at the waterfall and it was beautiful. We decided to walk around to find a nice place for both of us to hang out. And awhile later we were soaking wet in the river! Well, you just can't wait when the water is calling for you! AWESOME!
We had a great time there for about an hour. We changed cloths and had a nice ice cream before we moved on. There is no better way to dry off
your wet hair than to let the wind to do their magic! I felt free as a bird! We were very hungry and tried to find a nice place to have our lunch. We initially wanted to have our lunch in Kangar because its nearer but I just ask Faeza to go to Kuala Perlis ( which took us another half an hour) cause I'm craving for seafood! Well, she just said : WHY NOT?
So, off we went to Kuala Perlis. Faeza herself were not very familiar with the road there so we just try and error. We would literally go to any village that seems interesting and back again on the road to Kuala Perlis. It was fun because the scenery were just amazing. In one part, there were vast paddy field with pointy little hills scattering at the end, and you can see tiny traditional houses at the foot of the hills. It felt magical. I never knew that Perlis would look so beautiful. Too bad that I didn't bring my camera so I don't have that much photos to show you this time. Just the one that I took using my cellphone ... sorry!
Perlis waterfall
I can't remember the name, I'll update later... Finally we arrived in Kuala Perlis. Without further due we choose a restaurant and had our late lunch. We had a very large spicy crab, cockles, tom yum and omelette. And guess what, it cost us only RM28!! Very cheap indeed! We were fulled and hurried back to Jitra because its going to dusk soon. Seems like we've lost track of time while in Perlis. Its a bit dark on the way home but it was an amazing trip indeed! To those who like to try out Perlis please do rent a bike and just have guts to travel around their rural areas. You won't regret a thing!
