So we entered Macau today. We entered by ferry. It was about an hour long ferry. Once we entered Macau the first thing I noticed was that everything was trilingual. The instructions were in Cantonese, Portuguese, and English. It was so strange to see streets and buildings in Portuguese in Southern china.
So we board a bus and head towards a fancy restaurant but meanwhile all you can see are casinos everywhere! And I mean EVERYWHERE. Every other building was a casino! This gaming industry in Macau was definitely no joke! So we eat at this fancy restaurant and after that head to our hotel.
After that we had a lecture on gambling and “Macau the sin city”. I’m going to skip the lecture because in all honesty nobody paid much attention. I actually videotaped everyone in the class sleeping, falling asleep, or just plain bored. Everybody was much more interested in hitting the casinos. After the lecture, we took a mini field trip to the Ama temple. The Ama temple is a Chinese temple with a Portuguese structure to it. It’s here that I meet this girl named Rain, who was a local of Macau. She certainly liked to talk
a lot and was extremely friendly.
After the temple we were told that we were going into a village town place that had lots of good Portuguese/Cantonese food and free samples! I ended up in a group with Donny, James, and Josh. We were almost late!! We had to be back at a certain time to catch the bus to the hotel (for free without paying) so we ate at McDonald's thinking it would be quick—it wasn’t!!!! I ordered only 2 things; a burger and an ice cream and it took them FOREVER to make it! Donny said something along the lines of “THIS ISN’T FAST FOOD!” so as soon as I got the food we bolted out the place and ran back to the bus stop. Which it was a good thing we did. Had we walked we wouldn’t have caught the bus.
We decided t meet in the lobby at 8pm to hit the casinos. We went to 2, the Greek Mythology, and Altira. I gambled 20 dollars and only won 6.60. So I sucked. Only Dan, nick, and Justin made significant winnings at Altira. I wanted t try the roulette table but I didn’t think it was
a idea to gambled what little money I had despite the fact the rules of roulette were easy and your chances were basically 50/50.
So we look for a place to eat, after that as we were heading back I bought a Cantonese magazine on some kpop bands (but I couldn’t read the magazine!) when we got back to the hotel I went on the internet to facebook. Then I ended up going back out to the casinos again with nick and Mohawk Ryan. But I ended up coming back early and falling asleep.
