Macau Tower
Bungee Tower Macau is apparantly the Los Vegas of China. I would not know because I have never been to Vegas, but I'd probably agree with the statement. So I spent the weekend in Macau. One of the guys that goes to school here has an uncle that owns a casino and hotel so we got free rooms. Definitely an incentive for going. That and another stamp on my passport. =) So we took the ferry from Hong Kong to Macau Friday afternoon which is about an hour long trip. After we arrived and checked in, we had some local food, and headed out to the casinos. I lost some money playing Roulette (not a lot) and after watching one of the guys win $2,000, decided that my new favorite game is Sik Ball. I held back though and didn't play anymore for the rest of the weekend. We spent most of our casino time in the Wynn, MGM, and just passed through Lisboa. Afterwards, we decided to check out the night life. We found a pretty sweet club called D2 that has a really good band. We also spent about 2 hours wandering around looking for a club called Sanshiro which my

Hotel where we stayed. travel book said was one of the best places to go in Macau. Liar. We ended up listening to some crappy band in a place called the Moonwalker.
The next day, three people in our group bungee jumped off the Macau Tower which is the tallest bungee in the world. I filmed from the ground. We also took that day to see all the older historical sites. We went on a walk through town that included the Ruinas de Sao Paulo, Forteleza de Monte, Sao Domingos, and other things I don't know the name of. It was nice, but not overly-impressive. We ended up at the A-Ma Temple and walked to a nearby Portuguese restaurant that was amazing. I had duck with rice (first time I've had duck), it was delectable. I also tried Ox tongue which had a good flavour once you were able to block from your mind that you were eating ox tongue. We went back to the D2 club and listened to the band, Chocolate Soul for the rest of the evening.
Nothing eventful happened Sunday except new additions to the list of things I've now tried. We went to a Chinese restaurant for

I wanted to eat there but it was closed, so I took a picture. lunch, and I was with a group of guys who thought it'd be cool to order the grossest-sounding things on the menu. Since we were eating dim sum (small steamed snacks that you order a lot of and share) I was pretty much forced to eat whatever they were having as well. I honestly can't remember everything we had but some of the things were Pig Intestine which almost made me throw up, Pork Knuckles which were actually really good.
All in all, it was a good trip. Not one that I would make again for a while because I've got better things to do with my time. lol There were a couple things I didn't get to do that I really wanted to such as go to Hac Sa beach - the black sand beach - and enjoy some real tapas, but maybe I'll fix that sometime later.
On a different note, today was pretty good. Nice and relaxing for the most part. Our group of people that are traveling over the Chinese New Year met to talk over details. Some of us went to the Sham Shui Po market and bought a backpack for $110 =
Sanshiro
The reason we walked the streets of Macau for 2 hours. Look at the empty chairs - even the locals don't come here. $15 US. Pretty great deal, honestly. Now I just need to find some cheap but good hiking shoes. It was really nice out today which was a great change from the extreme cold last week. (Yes I know you guys are much colder in the states, but I didn't bring any jackets so I'm allowed to say that.) I went to my first Tae Kwon Do practice tonight, and joined the club here at the school. The practice was really tiring, but it felt really good at the same time. It felt really good to get back into the sport. I'm the only foreigner there, so the guy in charge had to show me what he was telling everyone else to do. They were really nice though, and they were looking out for me once they found out I had knee surgery. I can only go on Mon. nights cause I have class Thurs, but I think this 2 1/2 hours will be a good chance to start getting back into shape. On that note, I feel pretty dead, so I'm going to go to bed.
Love you all!
Hilary
