In October 2009 we took the overnight bus from Bangkok to Vientiane, the sleepy capital of Lao PDR, People's Democratic Republic. I was not overly excited as I knew it was a Communist state. I am originally from the beautiful land of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma in Southeast Asia. I left my homeland in 1978, and lived/worked in several countries before settling down in Florida, USA in 2011.
