4000 Islands!

Hello!!

After finally making it to the Laos border, we headed for Khong Island (one of the 4000 islands in the South of Laos) via bus and boat, arriving mid-afternoon to find that there was currently no electricity on the island so our room was almost unbearable in the heat without a fan or air conditioning! Unfortunately, Michi was ill that day/night so we didn't really do much, although the next day we decided we would give riding a moped ourselves a go! We spent most of the morning and afternoon driving around the island, which was really fun, and eventually I felt brave enough to try too..... occassionally I forgot where the brakes where but apart from that it was fine and really really really fun! :o)

That afternoon we were punished for neglecting our petrol tank indicator and ran out of petrol! :o( We pushed the bike for a while until some locals took pity on us and gave us just enough petrol to get to the next petrol pump which was just down the road! :o) We then drove to the other end of the island and had a beer next to the lake to watch the sunset.... which didn't really work because no sooner had we sat down, all the clouds came in and it started thundering! :o(

Again, I only have 2 pictures from Khong Island, although I know we (Michi) took loads! :o(
