The long flat road stretched out endlessly south from Vientienne. We are Erika and Robin from Scotland and in April 2005 we quit our jobs and set off to cycle from Scotland to İstanbul. As the days drifted by we would sit each evening with a cold Beer Lao and watch the sun sink into the smog over Thailand.

So we gave in and took the bus. No problems putting our bikes on the roof as they are well used to carrying everything, usually including several 'motos' too. Our bus also had about 10,000 eggs on the roof.
