Well as the title of the blog should tell you, I had a bit of trouble at the border of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Turns out I was supposed to "register" within five days of being in Kazakhstan and do some other crap that tourists have to do when visiting places like this. I didn't so I had a bit of a problem. After riding for about 5 hours from Shymkent we arrived at the Kyrgyz border. My new Dutch friend and I departed ways at the bus terminal that morning. He was bound for Tashkent, I for Bishkek. Kinda neat. Anyway, at the border I was stopped by immigration for not properly having filled out my registration card. Stop #11 July 27th 2012 Teplye Kluchy After finishing the wedding preparations fairly early today we decided to head out to Alamedid Vally to relax at Teplye Kluchy (natural hot springs with mineral water) for the evening and maybe spend the night there. It was a beautiful day to be out driving, not to hot but warm enough to be comfortable. After leaving Bishkek we headed south to Koytash and beyond. After Koytash the road began to wind alongside the Alamedid River and I saw more yurts and shepherd tents set up in this valley then anywhere in Kyrgyzstan before. There were herds of sheep and goats everywhere, with some shepherds on horses and some on foot. Stop #2 July 26th 2012 Gumbez of Jarkynbay XIX century A.D. Following the success of the previous day of having a great evening driving through the hills of the Chuy Region in I decided to try and locate Jarkynbay’s Gumbez. This proved to be fruitless in spite of hours of driving. We started from Bishkek driving west until reaching the small city of Sokuluk. This city’s population is mainly made up of the Dungan people which are from a different ethnicity then the local Kyrgyz people are and also adhere to a stricter version of Islam. Surprisingly though, this didn't keep an old drunkard from trying to take a nap on the road. This was a quaint little city with animals roaming freely within the city limits. Magnificent Monuments of Bishkek - 13thJuly 2012 – mile 10,229 With the appearance of the rainbow over our camp-site we thought the storm was going to clear up. But no – the thunder continued all night long constantly moving up and down the valley. It really was pretty spectacular at times, especially when it was directly overhead. To leave the Suusamyr Valley we have one last 3500m pass to cross. The roads are wet and the clouds are low as we make our way up the hairpins. You can hardly see the bike in front through the mist. Its a shame, I expect there are wonderful views back down into the green, yurt dotted valley below.
