Visits to the temples of Kyoto and the monasteries of Koyasan. An exploration of history in Hiroshima. A visit to the peaceful island of Miyajima. And then a lively close to the trip in Tokyo. All of these adventures - even the bustle of Tokyo - embraced by what I found to be a gentle culture of deep appreciation of simple things, of simple beauty. It was much too short of a trip and much too superficial. I eagerly anticipate a return . . .
