My latest little adventure was to Nagoya, Japan!!!! I was very excited about this one apart from the flight time (8.5hrs there and 11.5 hrs back!!!!)………………….............
The flight was perfect…. All of the economy crew were Japanese which was a blessing as most of the passengers didn’t speak English. The passengers were a delite! So tidy, clean and never ask for anything! A lot of the passengers on the flight and in Japan wear face masks to avoid giving or receiving and germs and all sport little throw away slippers!! Bless them! I also leanrt a bit of Japanese off the girls so at least the passengers got what food they wanted!!!!
The hotel was lovely and Christmassy with a huge tree and a gingerbread shop!!! Also a huge electric train track which was cute!
A lot of the crew went for something to eat and thank god we settled for Japanses and not the original plan- Hard Rock Café!!!!! We ate in an amazing traditional Japanese restaurant where you have to take your shoes off at the door and the tables are sunk into the ground! We dined on Sushi and Sake ( Japanese alcohol which you
can have hot or cold- both were good!!!) To go to the toilet you pop on little slippers because of course we were shoeless!
After a good nights sleep, probably a result of the Sake, I ventured out the next day………………..
I went for a Stabucks first to map study, once I was able to get in the place!!!! The door were sliding doors but I didn’t know you had to touch the pads on the door to open, not the censored type like at home! Was so embarrassed I was standing there for a few minutes so walked away for a stroll then went back when it finally clicked how you entered!!!!!
There are a few cultural things to see, Nagoya Castle and a Temple……….. I opted for the temple as the castle was a good walk and didn’t have time to do both this time. The temple was beautiful- most Japanese are Buddist…………. The temple was surrounded by Buddist statues and pigeons!!! Just next door there was loads of shops under cover which were great to look round. The Japanese fashion is just so quirky and there were plenty of great fashion shops to mooch
around……….. Most of the stuff is kiddy looking stuff but worn by adults- love it!!!! There were also loads of cowboy/ western type shops selling beautiful leather bags, belts and cowboy boots.
The weather was cool with a little rain but nice and refreshing! The hotel was smack bang in the middle of the city which is just perfect! I had a little look near the hotel and there was a quaint little candy/ biscuit shop- the produce looked so yummy and the Japanese labels for them alone look like artwork. The writing is so amazing! The “Tesco Express” type store fascinated me alone!!!! I spent most of my allowance in there on Japanses Chocolate- the packaging is just great!!!! He he!! Any excuse!!!!
This is by far one of the loveliest places I’ve been although its hard to judge as every where is so different! Definitely want to go back to Japan, even Nagoya again as seemingly I hadn’t even gone to the main shopping area!!!!!
Off back to Sydney Christchurch for this week (6 day trip) Got problems with my ears though so on medication for them so hope it gets better before I’m due
to go. Got a few friends I want to meet up with, 2 from back home who are travelling and one guy I met in Thailand then again in Melbourne which would be wicked if we get to meet up again! Then I’m off for 3 days so jumping on the next flight back to Manchester which will be fun after a 14hr flight back from Sydney!!!!! But looking forward to Christmas Festivities!!!!!
Hope you all have a great Christmas where ever you are!!!! xxxx
