The three of us
I had to wear goggles because of my contacts Had a great weekend! Friday Haley, Chelsea, and I walked around Hiro-o and found a little festival really close to our hotel, but I think it was a party oh well! They sold food so we ate! I spilled soy sauce all over me so I had to walk around with it on me, oh well. Saturday the 3 of us were lazy until we got onto the bus to Yokota at 1:30. Only $5 and it was supose to take 2 hours but it only took 1, so that was nice. Got there around 2:30 and went to the comissary and bought food for climbing mt. fuji. Then we were walking to the other side of the base to get to the east gate when we needed directions so we flagged down a police man. Glad we did because we were going across the flight line and you can't walk across it - only bikes and cars. So he gave us a ride, pretty nice of him. Then we went to a store called the sexy miser, and they had a lot of cheap clothes so i got some things. Kind of weird, you have to take your shoes off
before you go into the dressing room. I went a few times with them on, then a worker said something to me. We met up with Haley's sister, Stephanie who is doing camp at Yokota. We went with her and her co-workers to a lifegaurds house that they work with. He was 17, and his mom and him made a mexican dinner for everyone. It was really good. Played a game after we ate and then went back to their apartment (which was amazing, the 3 each got their own room - was a hotel so it got cleaned for them - had wireless internet, living and dining room, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms!). Stayed the night there and then they let us borrow their bikes in the morning. We woke up at 4:30 am to go canyoning and took the bikes to the outdoor recreation building. Checked in and got on the bus, left a half an hour late but oh well. Was a 2 hour ride to the canyoning place. We got there at 8:30 and didn't start until 9. A bunch of other camp people ended up being their including Angie our Project Cordinator who looks over
multiple sites. We didn't do the trip with together but was fun talking to them. Went through a breifing and then put on our wet suits - which was the hardest thing I've ever had to put on. Took about 10 minutes on bus to get to Fox Canyon. Then we went over signals and ways to do things. There was a photographer there to take pictures of us too, so we got some cool pictures - we also had a waterproof one too. Started off by floating down the canyon, then slid down a few small waterfalls. Did it on our back feet first and superman style. We went on a balance beam, then we got to a 20 meter waterfall! They hooked us on a pull bouy and lowered us down half way until the rope went out and we slid the other half by ourselves! I got twisted a little with the rope not tangled in it though and had to wait a little while until I straightened out then I dropped! It was so much fun! Went into this deep swimming hole. Once everyone had gone we were able to go back to the bottom of
the waterfall and get pushed out by it. That was fun too. Next we went to a smaller waterfall which we slid down by ourselves - first was feet first, next was superman style! Haley went backwards but Chelsea and I were too scared. I went back up and jumped after that. That was so scary, thought I was going to hit a rock because you had to jump a little ways but I was fine. Was so much fun. Climbing up the ladder was so hard since I could barely move in the wet suit. We then floated down some smaller falls 2 backwards 2 feet first. Then jumped off another thing. This guy was doing backflips off everything and it was so scary! Canyoning was done after that and we went back to the lodge. Switched to our rafting gear then ate lunch. Was really good - salad, rice, tuna pasta, and chicken. I was so tired. They said we could go swimming in a swimming hole but I laid my head on the picnic table and fell asleep. Just for a few minutes but it was nice. White water rafting was next. I got worried that it
would get canceled because it started to thunder, lightening, and rain. But we still went. Went up a little further in the river then they usually go because they thought the water would rise but it didnt and we got stuck s fun. After we passed all the rocks we got to the part that we would normally start and it got a little deeper. Was so much fun to go in the rain. Was only class 1 or 2 rapids - Grassy was trying to make us fall out a bunch but we never did. We jumped out though and floated for awhile. One time we flipped the raft upside down (on purpose) and rode on it that way for awhile. Even stood up on it and surfed! We were in between mountains and there were onsen buildings along side the whole way. At the end they let us jump again (I didn't but Haley did) then they made a slide out of a raft. That was fun! Then it was the end of the trip. We went back to the lodge and on the way back saw the canyon that we were in that morning and it was
amazing the difference! Talk about flash flood. Another group from a different company was stranded and some of the guides we were with had to go save them after we got back. Their guide got swept away in the canyon and was in the hospital and all of clients were out by themselves. Kind of scary - really glad we went canyoning first! When we got back we changed and looked at pictures. We were able to buy the cd of all of our pictures for 2,000 yen but only if everyone in our group bought it. I felt bad because there was a married couple and they each had to buy a cd, so we all pitched in a few extra yen so we could get the cd (it was everyone gets it or no one does). Took 3 hours to get back to Yokota because of traffic then we had an extra 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get back to Tokyo. Got back around 11:30 and then had to work today. Wasn't too tired though - I just am so sore!
Friday was a lot of kids last day. Got a lot of presents too! I
felt bad because Maria was in our class for maybe a week or two and then went to the other class. They brought presents and said that one was for me, Amy T, and Aimme L. and that the treats were for everyone. Haley and Cassie felt really bad because they didn't get a present and Maria was mostly in their class. It was a nice present though - fans from Tokyo Disney! Today was so nice because Kojiro's last day was Friday - he is so cute but took a lot of our attention. I was able to have so much fun with the kids because I didn't have to worry about someone getting into things. Aruki is so cute, he is so lovey - gives lots of hugs. And is always laughing. Doesn't speak much english but will mimick words I say to learn them, its cute. Lara is back - she looks so much older now! Was here for the first couple weeks of camp and then took a break. Going to go to Shinujuku tonight to get tickets for Kyoto.
