Had a lazy night Friday, then went to Kamakura on Saturday. Were only there for a few hours (and it took 2 hours each way to get there) but it was well worth it. We saw the giant buddha and I got to go inside to see how it was made. Man was it like a sauna! Kind of cool, but not reallyThe rest went to another thing that I thought was just going to be a shrine so Chelsea and I didnt go, but it ended up being the 1 million buddhas. Oh well. Thought we were going to go to a baseball game Saturday night, thats why we didn't stay long, but we ended up not being able to get tickets😞. Haley went with Chris to Camp Zama and I headed back to Tokyo with the Chelsea and Amy. I ended up stopping in Ginza while they headed home just to see what it was. Went to a few shops but everything was sooooo expensive! I'll probably end up going back another day since I didnt want to get to lost by myself and I didnt have my book to help tell me what to do. Sunday, Haley wasn't
home and everyone else were doing things I'd already saw, so I went to the Ameyoko Market by Ueno park. It is where the black market used to be and is a bunch of shops underneath the elevated train tracks. It's not the black market anymore but it was really cheap. I got myself a handbag for $4 and a shirt and dress each for $1!!! I also got some gifts😊. I stayed there for a couple hours and was finally forced to use a japanese style toilet. I was planning on doing some more things while I was there but it was so stinking hot that I had to head back and cool off. Looked up a bunch of things I want to do during the week and for some weekend trips (I only have 4 weekends left! and 5 weeks - I can't beleive it!).
Last Friday we had a BBQ and blitz, a lot of the kids' last day (about 7 of them). At the blitz one of our little boys who doesn't speak much english was doing the cha cha slide with them. It was so cute because he'd watch then do it. I got
it on video too!
Camp went well today, we figured out another way to walk to the pool so they don't get so distracted and it works much better! We went from 10-15 mins to 5-10. Took a little longer going to the pool though because we walked up the wrong stairs and were going to have to have them cross a street so we went back down the stairs to go under the street. Had a few new kids, one little boy cried for awhile but then he was okay. Kojiro started giving us hugs and then the rest did and it was cute😊. Had a pretty good day, all went pretty smoothly. I got in the water with the kids today and they kept squeezing the water balls on my head to get me wet and I let them. So then they started doing it to a mom in the pool and I had to get them to stop, I dont think the other parent wanted to get wet (it wasn't one of our kids' mom).
So funny story, I had told Amy T. to ask a mom about these trainer chopsticks for me since I
never saw the mom and she did. So the mom bought Amy the chopsticks as a gift. I thought it was weird that she'd buy one teacher something and not the other. I know Amy felt bad but oh well. And then, we are going to go to Kyoto this weekend and I asked Cassie when we were going to by tickets and she said later. So I knocked on their door and they said they had already gotten them, and I'm the only one else who wants to go. So I went to the front desk at the tour counter and the lady was so rude and wouldn't help me because she said they were closing when really they werent closing for 15 mins and my thing would take 10. I was so upset I started crying, but it all got figured out. They are going to get the tickets someplace else that will be cheaper anyways and where we all can go.
Right now when I was uploading the video Amy knocked on my door and gave me the chopsticks saying that they were really for me the mom just didn't know and that she felt bad.
Me at Ameyoko
Yeah.. its crazy hair but it was hot and I just didn't care (plus I didn't realize until after the picture was taken and I was in the subway!) Really nice of her😊
