Nara Tuesday, March 18 Today I went back to the Kyoto Station but took the JR Nara line further out to the city of Nara, a former capital of Japan. Nara is famous for its herds of deer that roam the large park area freely and are fed by visitors. The large statue in the darkened room was an incredible sight. These following pictures don't do the place justice. But it was one of the few temple buildings were you could take pictures inside.

The angle kind of makes it look like it's right there, but it's actually really big and a ways behind the alter.

Surround the large statue were a number of smaller ones.

The great wheel behind the Buddha was elaborate.

As I left the Daibutsuden, the sun started coming out and I went up this other building in the temple with a great view of Nara.

Sun breaking through the clouds shining beams of light on the Daibutsuden. Though not captured by the camera, there was the appearance of a spotlight from the sky shining on the building.

I'm not sure what this building was, but they were closing up when I got there, so I didn't stay too long.

There were some large fish in the pond and a sign to not fall in the water. I couldn't read it, but it looked like the fish were eating the guy that fell in.
