Yesterday I had a wonderful and relaxed time together with Junko and Bárbara in Fujieda and Shizuoka, enjoying a tea ceremony (chanoyu) and I was able to purchase both a kimono and a pair of hakama (trousers). Today it was time to continue my journey though and so I said my goodbyes to Junko for this year as I stepped on the shinkansen (bullet train) going west. I lef... Read Full Entry

Rasuto Samurai
A fascinating insight into where your heart and soul is Per-Olof. You may have been a tourist dressed with a hospitality group for photos for touristos but I discern it meant more to you than that. Gret blog.

Rasuto Samurai
It really did mean more to me my dancing friend, it created one of those rare moments of perfection that will always live not only in your memory but also in your heart. :-)

This is such a cute pic, and less 'hmmm' than the one before it (without the context of the hakama tying) :) Do you know what the text on your facebook photo says?

Haha, I know. I just couldn't putting them both up because I thought the first one looked so hilarious and we were all laughing so hard when we did this. The text on the top of picture says Rasuto Samurai, Last Samurai, the text on the bottom are there character names, on the left Matsudaira Naomasa and on the right Ogasawara Hidemasa. :-)

Very, very cool
Some people just check off "must see" sites when they travel, but you take the time to really engage with people. And isn't that what travelling is all about? I really like the pictures of you with the Matsumoto Castle Hospitality Group; maybe you have found a new career.

Thank you! I am very happy that you like them. I had a really amazing time together with them and I look forward to meeting them all again! It would be really cool to work with them, perhaps I could take om the role of William Adams, the first westerner to become a Samurai, it was after all in the same time period under the rule of Tokugawa. :)

Enjoying the View of the Tenshu (Main Keep)

Nice photo
The Japanese castles are excellent. When we were in Japan we planned to see Himeji Castle. When we came there it was all covered in scaffolding and tarps. They were renovating it and we saw nothing... /Ake

Nice photo
Thank you! ^_^ I know the feeling, when I was in Himeji parts of it was also under scaffolding but enough was open to enjoy it, I'm happy that there was no such distractions in Matsumoto. ^_^

Ichi-go ichi-e
I love this Japanese expression, thank you for sharing it here. It seems like you encounter many of these on your travels. The photos reflect the text's message that you seemed to be really in your element here, taking a full part in Japanese history, culture and religion. Lovely to read :)

Ichi-go ichi-e
Thank you my friend. I love that expression as well and it seems like such an integral part of Japanese society and culture and is a big part of why I really love it, every moment there seem to carry something precious with it. :)
