15 July 2005 - Final Night @ Y's So right now (Aug 21), I am mighty pissed that the dvd I burned all the pics onto is scratched, so things don't look recoverable at the moment... but I do have pics of the great, final night at Y's for you all :) Of course, I must tell this story in chronological order, so I will start with where I left off last. My last update was on the third-to-last week in Japan. I had went to Y's, then Ageha after. The night after that began the pics that are currently unrecoverable -- Bikini night at La Fabrique with Lars! You guys saw a pic or two of that night on the sayonara video... Fast forward to Friday, the 15th. I had big hopes for this day. ... read more

Tuesday, 5 July 2005 Last J-pop class. Aoyagi SENSEI was a real cool guy. Good times. The last day, he was trying to teach us some Okinawan DANCE. Oo, and I remember during the first midterm, I put my head down to take a 15-minute nap cause I was really really tired. I hope I ended up with a B in the class :) Thursday, 7 July 2005 I went KARAOKE with Maki. Friday, 8 July 2005 I remember this Friday as a very happy day. The weather was awesome, and my friends were riding up the crest of life's roller coaster: many had finally found that special someone to invest their time and energy into (or the girl had found them, as was usually the case, haha). I spied upon Stephane and Cedric DISCUSSING such ... read more

26-30 June 2005 - Last Week of June On the 26th, I hung out with Mika at Makuhari. I had planned to watch a movie at SALC, but realized it was a Sunday (so it was closed). So we went to the Garden Walk to shop a little, before heading to a restaurant I wanted to go to that had a nice view of the city at night... It turns out they aren't open on Sundays either. So we headed back to Plena and found a restaurant there. I was being a jerk and refused to make the decision of where to eat (I wanted Mika to decide!). After about an hour, we had DINNER at an Italian restaurant. On Monday, the 27th, there was a VOLLEYBALL tournament within the "circle." My team lost, but I ... read more

25 June 2005 - Disney SEA (2nd Time) I met with Kei at around noon, having had 3 hours of sleep. I had intended to enter the park after 6 (so there's a discount), but... Anyway, it was a beautiful day, albeit a bit hot, and we got lunch first. LUNCH was ok. We headed to the Indiana Jones ride first, and that was interesting since she screamed like a girl, haha. It was cute. We walked around a bit, and, simply put, it was a great date. We couldn't get good seats next to the water for the SHOWS, and I really wanted to be standing next to the water holding her to watch the night show and fireworks... but it was really crowded. I forgot it was a Saturday we went, not Wednesday like ... read more

24 June 2005 - Second Y's The cooler summer kids were invited to Y's with us (i.e. KAREN). It was my second time at this all-you-can-eat-and-drink place for 25 bucks, for 5 hours. MASON even showed up, so that was cool. There weren't many cute looking girls that I recalled. Still, I had a great time, and was looking forward to seeing Mika that night -- plan was to meet up with her at Velfarre for club event with her favorite dj, Yoshi Biomehanika, at around midnight, after Y's closed at 10:30. But before then, I wanted to have a good time at Y's. I didn't drink much because I needed to get on the train and make sure I could make it to Roppongi. Still, when Lars took me up on my offer to try ... read more

Thursday, 2 June 2005 - Marines Vs Carp IES agreed to reimburse us some of the price for a BASEBALL game -- the student ticket was 1500 for seats in the infield behind third base, and IES would give us back 500 if we showed them the stub. In short, it cost 1000 yen to watch the number one team in the league at the time, the CHIBA Marines. It's ironic because the Marines have always been a joke, but for some reason, this season, they've done really well. Anyway, this is the first baseball game I've ever been to. It was RAINY. At the entrance were some food TRUCKS that had interesting names too. The park was pretty EMPTY, and we got a lot of space to ourselves. I kinda wanted to sit where the ... read more

Note: I cannot upload pics at the moment, and my camera has run outta batteries, which I can't replace... read the journal. Anyway, any words I completely capitalize will have corresponding pics, when I get them up that is. Quick update, since I am going to dinner at 7pm with a group, and it is 6:16pm now: Plane ride on Singapore Air was 11 hours. Not bad. First thing I noticed was the crazy ELECTRONICS -- you can watch tons of movies, or listen to a ton of CDs, or play a ton of cool games! Decent FOOD -- had smoked salmon... so I guess smoked salmon doesn't really meand "cooked." Saw: - "Motorcycle Diaries" = a must see! Esp. you Sarah Burg! - "Closer" = (well, I missed a little in the beginning) Natalie Portman ... read more

Wow. After a full day transiting in Singapore by myself, I'm on my way to Minneapolis, Minnesota via Tokyo. Have a couple of hours transiting in Narita - Tokyo, so I started to reflect on what has been going on for the past couple days. I feel so insecure about everything, maybe because this is my first time go abroad by myself. No mommy or daddy or anybody around me, showing me around the immigrations or transiting between flights. Or maybe because I know my life will be changed forever from this point on. Or maybe since I'm carrying a lot of cash. LOTS of money, which I found out a little too late that this amount of cash to carry around is illegal in most country, including the United States of America. On the other ... read more
