I AM BACK!! So After my first week back I have my first update. This past weekend a few coworkers and I decided to go try the beach near work. You would never guess by work that there is a nice beach nearby. Since our beach trip went so well we decided to try another adventure on sunday. We jumped on a train and headed south along the coast. Our goal was to head inland to get to a grouping of waterfalls. The place is near Iga just south east of Nara. We had to make an exchange but we seemed to figure it out pretty well. Once we got to the train station we started our walk. I had heard that once you get to the station you just walk and its all nice. However, ... read more

So friends, time for one last update before I take off this Friday to go vacation in St Louis. WOOOHOOOOO vacation back home. Well this is a special update, probably the best one yet in my mind. I had planned to get this out last week and suprise everyone with a double update in one week. However, sleep, and exploring got in the way. Either way here we go. This update is special because it showcases two great nights. The first night I was able to go to dinner with my fellow co-workers both American and Japanese. This was real fun. We picked a place to eat close to work and a big group of us went. The Japenese co-workers that showed up were all from Utsenomia which is closer to Tokyo than Nagoya. They get ... read more

That one word helps a lot. It means seperate or independantly of. I use it a lot when I go out to eat with other coworkers. I have taken to carrying a Dictionary in my pocket just in case. I am getting a bit better at picking up and saying a few things. I think I owe this to my Japanese teacher Uetake-san. Well we talk about music and guitars all the time during breaks and he teaches me a few Japanese words and I teach him English. So any way, I had been stalling on updating my blog here. I feel bad but I just did not have any pictures to put up. So I decided that I should probably carry my camera on me at all times when I walk around and snap pictures ... read more

I keep meaning to write another blog but I keep getting sidetracked. So here is the long delayed update. Time seems to fly by too fast. I had to break down and get a hair cut. I heard of a few good places, but I had some friends who said they knew where to get the best haircut ever. The downside, however, was you would end up looking just like the guy who cut your hair. I had to find out exactly what my friends meant. So I went to the Barber shop and walked right in. Inside there was this nice old man. He spoke very little english, but he did not need to say anything, because I was going to get the same haircut that everyone else got. So I sat down and was ... read more

8 Days?!?! Really? I thought I had published my last entry sooner than that. Time is flying. This weekend everything seemed to slow down a bit and I was able to walk around and enjoy a few things. However, all these pictures are from my trip 2 weekends ago. I have more pictures of some shrines. I also took a picture of a car for the shop guys, I did not forget about your request to get some nice pictures of a modified car. Speaking of cars I have seen 4 Ferraris and 1 Lamborgini. I do not know where those people get thier money. I have to say I have had great food here. I will try to get some pictures of it. My pants get tighter everyday, so I am going to have to ... read more

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late update. I have been very very busy. This past weekend I took saturday off and decided to hope the bullet train to Kyoto. I went out to Kyoto to visit my Japanese mom and dad. So after work I left with my Shinkasen ticket in hand. I arrived in Kyoto in under half an hour, it beats the 2 hour bus ride! Once out there I took a few trains to Mayumi's house (my Japanese mom). We ate a wonderful dinner of fried pork cutlets with a sauce that was slightly sweet. Saturday we headed out to Nara and some surronding areas. I was able to see many many sights. I went to the largest wooden structure in the world and fed some angry deer. Well the deer were not ... read more

I apologize for the late update. I thought hmm fill out my expense report or update the blog. You can guess which one won at at this point. I have been working hard. I still have no pictures of the plant, but I want to make sure I can take pictures of the plant before I do anything. But I do have a great update for you. It has been about a week. So a lot has happened. Besides work I have found some time to go out and see the sights. Randy, Rich (our buddy from Cali) and myself went to the Hard Rock cafe. There were a lot of locals there celebrating birthdays. So I got pictures of them dancing as well as some pictures of thier shrine to Elvis (Cami that was just ... read more

A little bit on how I get to work everday. My day usually starts around 5 or so in the morning. About 3 in the afternoon for you guys. I get out of the hotel walk about 5 minutes to the subway. Its not a bad walk and its usually pretty good to get the blood flowing so I wont fall asleep. Hop over about two stations to the main Nagoya station and meet up with some of my new teammates. We take a train out of Nagoya to a small town that has a couple of factories. We hop into a cab and get taken to work. If the weather is good the Japanese workers go outside and stretch with the plant leaders leading them in stretching. I have yet to be able to attend ... read more

Today I had a chance to walk around and see a few things. So this update will have a lot of different pictures I took. I started out today by going to visit the Nagoya Castle. I have a few pictures from there. I also took a number of pictures on the way there. Randy and I ended up going by a temple on the way to the castle. The castle itself was great to view from the outside, however, on the inside it was less enchanting. The castle itself is has been rebuilt with a modern floor plan on the inside. There is a good reason for this. As promised here is some history on Nagoya. During World War II Nagoya was bombed heavily. Since Nagoya was close to the coast it lent itself well ... read more

I have landed and checked in without incident. I think. There was a problem finding my reservation due to my last name and the fact the company name was somehow listed in it as well. So I had a very odd name. Luckily I had my confirmation number. Then I was asked about payment and that I could pay later, though I had given my card. I think he meant for incidentals. Not totally sure. He did hand me a room key so I assume I am golden. Plus I got an ironing board really quick. In honor of being in Japan for the first time, Randy, myself and the man we will be working with/for, went to eat at the outback steakhouse. Just so Randy could get some more beef. We were told lunches at ... read more
