Diet coke, at last

Felt much better on waking up today. Went to cheapo cafe (set to become our regular haunt) for breakfast, really overcast this morn, even a few spots of rain :0 so I had a hot cuppa to warm up (we're higher up again here so it's cooler anyway). Wandered around Tuk Tuk which is quite a nice little place. This part is a little tourist village and it consists of a long winding road which runs alongside the lake and is full of souvenir shops, cafes, bookshops....

Sun came out and it started to get really warm so we stopped off at Reggae for a drink as it had really good views over the lake. Walk took us about 2hrs. Back at our GH we wandered down to the lake, had a go on the swings, seesaw and a non-working springy thing that you sit on which just ended up in me rolling round the floor and kids laughing at me. Played badminton (no good like but we blamed it on the wind) for a bit then pool on a ripped, wonky table.

Went on net at Tabo Cottages (which looks like a lovely place to stay but is a bit out of our price range) and booked our flight to KL for June 7th and looked at GH's in Medan and Bukit Lawang. Had Diet Cokes - the first ones in Sumatra- I was very happy 😊 Walking back we saw a gorgeous 'Andrex' puppy which was so cute, he kept jumping up at our legs and licking us and attacking our flip flops, he was even happy to be held like a baby😊

Back to Linda's for tea, I had veg sweet and sour and it was better than any Uncle Ben's (for 15,000 in case you're wondering). Rob had veg curry. Back at our GH we put a couple of films on in the restaurant, "Heartbreak Kid" and "Fish Tank" which filled in the whole night.

Lake Toba itself is no where near as beautiful as Lake Maninijau but the area and facilities are good and we're enjoying having stuff to do to keep us entertained 😊
