Mr Dodo’s ( our internet friend) driver Umar took us from the Makasar Airport. Spent the night at Dodo’s homestay. Dodo arrenged us a good dinner at Lae Lae Sea Food Rest. Umar offered us a trip to Ampana four days by his mini van at an acceptable price. The next day we took a city tour of Makasar. The same day we headed to Tana Toraja. On arrival we stayed at Wisma Maria Hotel ( 10 US$ incl. Brkfst) The following day he guided us for the interests of Toraja. We were lucky to visit a funeral ceremony which was from a lower class. According to Toraja ancestry believes people continue on living after death. They don’t pronounce the word death . They say for the death he/she is sick. And they keep the death body in the house with them for few days or for many years. They accept three classes, lower, middle and upper. For lower class the ceremony takes only one day, for middle class it takes four days and upper class it takes up to seven days. They work whole their life to collect the money for the funerals of their parrents. Makasar
With Dodo Mursalim Therefore for Torajan man it is hard to get married from abroad, because the ladies refuse to contribute their lifes for funerals.
After spending one day in Toraja we continued to Tentena but the road was slided so our guide arrenged another car to Tentena in few minutes. Actually many people spent their nights on that broken road. Succesfuly we reached Ampana after a nice sleep at Tentena. Now we are on the boat to Togeans. Love to all. PC: Today is 15th March no internet on Togeans. We are back from Togeans and publishing this blog.
