After leaving Tentena at eleven its was a very windy road to Poso. We stayed in Hotel Kartika a very nice hotel in a not very interesting town. So Lara and myself tried to venture out to the town but got that much hassle it didn't last long. We had to wait for the boys to come back from Lindu NP so we would be spending two nights here. Thank God for the nice hotel! With very poor internet access the day generally involved reading and looking over plans and not much else. The hotel put a buffet on for just us for breakfast and dinner which was so nice of them as we really didn't want to go out! But we did manage to book the minibus to Ampana for 9am ish and accommodation, the most productive thing we did all day!
The trip from Poso to Ampana was pretty uneventful and we arrived at the Hotel Oasis around 2:30 not too bad really. But of-cause there were no twin rooms only doubles which meant the girls in one and the boys in the other! Just after arriving we met a guy who invited us on a boat trip to see the burning reef.
The boat turned out to be an out-rigger canoe with a small motor and the burning reefs were some ground that set on fire randomly. It you moved the rocks around and placed a leaf there flames appeared. Very strange, we came to the decision that there is obviously natural gases coming up for some reason. The views on the boat trip though were beautiful and we watched sunset which was amazing over the sea. For dinner we managed to find a stall that sold 'KFC' chicken with of-course rice. I want a day without rice! Just one : )
Off to the Togean Islands tomorrow, its going to be good a week relaxing, diving and snorkeling hopefully in the sun!
