Morbid yet fascinating
It was. This place drew us in, revealed its fascinating but yet morbid culture and left us wanting more. The sacrifices however will also stay with us for a long time, so normal for them but somewhat stomach turning for us.

What an experience
Fascination and yet had to watch, wow. As I read this I was wondering would I want to see it and yet it sounds like a real experience. Always helpful when trying to understand another culture. Wow.

Re: What an experience
We really had no idea what we were in for. It definately was a shock to the system. We're still happy to have been a part of the funeral ceremony though, just a maybe not the slaughter :/ Being in Tanah Toraja was a real eye opener for us re culture/tradition and will be remembered for years to come - the good and the gruesome
