Monday, 9th April 2012 (Day 04) Our 1115hrs flight did not leave us with opportunities for further sight-seeing in the city. For breakfast, we decided to go ahead with room service to save the hassle of finding food in the neighbourhood. By 6.50am, the friendly service staff had arrived with our selections which we had pre-ordered the night before. Bon Appetit! This was a nice ending for our Bandung vacation as we partake the spread in front of us within the comfort of our room. Sunday, 8th April 2012 (Day 03) Day 03 proved to be the most calming for our tired souls as we opted for a staycation within our vacation in Hilton Bandung. Here is a run-down of the key events for the day. Breakfast Each of us decided to shell out 181,500 Rupiahs (SGD 29.50) for our breakfast at the hotel's eatery, the Purnawarman Restaurant. Our breakfast buffet was more than a 2-hour affair starting from 8am till 10.30am in the morning. This was necessary in order to do the lavish spread justice and of course, making sure that our lunch was "taken care of" as well. Swimming / Gymnasium The strong breezes that morning did not deter us from heading to level 6 for some serious swimming in order to work out that extra calories from breakfast. ... read more

Saturday, 7th April 2012 (Day 02) 5.30am - As the first sunlight descended upon the city of Bandung, we were up and about around the same time for an early morning breakfast before embarking on our day trip. By 6.45am, 3 of us had gathered at the hotel lobby ready for our excursion in order to beat the notorious weekend traffic jams. We hired Pak Dhani, our driver for the day from the reputable Bluebird taxi company. He was punctual, professional and non-intrusive. Inside the car, I showed him the list of places that we would like to visit and Dhani was quick to suggest the prefered itinerary sequence in order to make the best use of our time. Driving from Bandung to our first destination some 36km away, Kawah Putih (White Lake) took a good ... read more

Friday, 6th April 2012 (Day 01) AirAsia twice daily flights to the city of Bandung provided a fuss-free option for folks like us wanting to explore exotic getaway alternatives from Singapore. Dubbed the "City of Flowers" during the Dutch colonial times, Bandung provided a cool relief at night when temperatures hover around 21 degrees on the mercury. These days, traffic jams are the norm on weekends when thrones of visitors mobbed the 30-odd factory outlets in the city. Our 1hr 40mins flight to the city was uneventful having encountered moments of turbulences prior to descending at the Husein Sastranegara Airport. Similar to our previous experience at Yogyakarta Airport, it took a while to clear through the customs even though we were the only flight that landed this afternoon. The only difference was that foreign visitors were ... read more

At 5am Dewi called us to make sure she had the address of our hotel. Our driver showed up an hour and a ½ early not realizing his watch was on Bali time. Dewi apparently gave him a pep talk before on to make sure he’s nice to us. His name was Abi and he was very knowledgeable about the surroundings. We first went to the train to purchase our ticket to Yogyakarta, then drove to Tangkuban Perahu, an active volcano. It last erupted in 1959. We first drove up to the look out and looked down on the large amount of steam coming off the bubbling water. After, we hiked down to a different spot called the Domas crater to get a up close look of the volcanic mud, an boiling puddles. We were able ... read more

Had a wonderful time in Auckland – a really nice place, seems very laid back and some very pretty parts. Got off the ship and took a “hop on, hop off” tour bus around the city, hopping off in a very nice part called Parnell Village. There were some lovely quaint shops and lots of nice bars and restaurants. After this we hopped back on the bus and went into the main part of the city, getting off at Sky Tower with a plan to walk around the top of it. Unfortunately this was when Scott’s bank card stopped working – the Fraud Department at the Royal Bank of Scotland had stopped it as they saw money coming out from different parts around the world – despite the fact we had told them this is what ... read more

The bad news is that the best thing about Bandung is thirty kilometres away from it. The good news is that this thing is a live volcano: Tangkuban Perahu, a place infused with ancient myth. Granted, it's relatively poor story as they go: something about a man falling his love with his mother and kicking a boat over when he finds he can't marry her. Nothing in comparison to the excitement of an actual live volcano. That's what I'm here for, after all. I'm not going to lie - I was hoping for a full-blown eruption on a Hollywood scale. In reality Tangkuban Perahu has been experiencing post-orgasmic lethargy since 1969. Yet there's still something to be seen: thick clouds of sulphurous gas breaking through the crust, and - when you get really close to the ... read more

De vulkaan is 2.076 m ... read more

At May 28th 2010, i had trip to Bandung, West Java but just one day. You can choose what transportation you want to go there, with car, train or bus. I choosed car because i feel comfortable with it. Actually the length from Jakarta to Bandung, maybe just 2-3 hours. But if you go to there at peak season or holiday, get ready for extra patient because you know, it will be stuck-on-highway. Like my experience last week ago. I leaving Jakarta at 9a.m and arrived at Bandung at 1pm!WHAT?!but dont worry if you're hungry, every 2-3 km, there's rest place. They built food court and toilet. Simple, huh? but it helping ;) My destination to Bandung (at first) go to Ciater, Subang for enjoying natural hot water but our schedule was so mess it because ... read more
