Jika anda 'kaki shopping' yang tegar, anda mungkin memerlu... read more

The start of my new weeks blog.Today we are traveling to Probalinga and on to Samera Lewak by train, to climb Mount Bromo which is suppose to be one of Java's most scenic volcanos. We also are winging it today on accommodation as we really don't know what to expect. The scenery on the train as we past by villages and various sorts of farming, mostly rice paddies workers now are harvesting the rice no doubt back breaking work. The rivers and streams always have children playing and bathing and adults doing the daily wash or dishes life seems pretty uncomplicated for these country folk. They seem quite content with life, a few satellite dishes scattered in towns (maybe they are watching neighbours)........ Passing though jungles which also have been put to use as they are ... read more

Had it not because of my friend, Faisal, who asked me to come along to Kawah Putih, I wouldn't have set my foot there. It has been on my 'to go' list for a while. I don't realise going to Bandung from either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur is so painless now, thanks to Air Asia which flies direct daily to Bandung. I arrived from the new airport at KLIA 2 with Air Asia in the morning, and once arrived, I looked for a car rental booth and managed to get a car rented, including a driver, for a day - at a reasonable price. Without an itinerary on hand, I decided to head towards Centre of Bandung and explored Batik Komar, one of the well visited Batik shop in town, and headed towards the "Ciganea" restaurant. ... read more

This time, let me take you in a different kind of journey. No, it’s not some foreign land that I’ve never seen before. On the contrary, it’s a place that’s near & dear to my heart – my hometown. It’s where I was born, grew up, got married and… buried our two babies. When I lost my baby daughter last year on her 2nd trimester, I was destroyed. Everyone tried to console me that it was just a “bad luck” and “most people goes on to have a healthy pregnancy”. From the edge of insanity & depression, I somehow managed to pull myself up as life goes on – whether you’re ready or not. While trying to conceive again, I did everything that I can think of to increase the next baby’s fighting chance – from ... read more

Day 266 (Fri 31stMay) Jakarta So I awoke at around 10am after about 7 hours sleep in possibly the comfiest bed I’ve had yet. It was so soft it was lush. I had a look at the map and online to figure out what to do. I read a lot about Jakarta being a love/hate city and a lot of people say to get out soon as you can. I am in no rush anywhere so figured I’d at least spend a day and decide on a plan after that. After breakfast of toast and fruit I headed towards the National Monument and the Istiqlal Mosque which are pretty much next to each other. It took around 30 mins to get there from my hostel and I first checked out the mosque. I wandered around and ... read more

This heavenly white and light blue crater lake located in Ciwidey, Bandung, West Java. Apparently Indonesia has a good way to hide load amount of heavens. Almost every piece of heaven are tainted with strong folks story including this one. The story behind White Crater is Patuha Mountain (where White Crater Lake is located) once considered as a haunted mountain, that was why no one ever known about the beauty of this lake. This actual lake was found by a Germany scientist namely Dr. Franz Wihelm Junghuhn. At that time, local society believe that the lake was haunted since every creature that through in that lake would be dead. Fortunately, Dr. Franz Wihelm did not trust that myth, he researched about the lake and found that the lake indeed contains quite amount of sulfur. That was ... read more

Helaas, er ... read more

Like Bali, it was kinda difficult leaving Pangandaran, especially after the second day's activities, including riding through Batu Karas on motorcycle pillion (thanks to Weihong for the ride!), taking in the beautiful coastal scenery. Pangandaran definitely wasn't as in-your-face as Bali, but it sure had it's own magic too... But my journey had to continue, and Bandung was the next stop. I took LP's advice and booked a Sari Harum door-to-door shuttle. Certainly more comfortable than the local inter-city buses, but it was still a 7h ride... Stayed at the Cihampelas Guest House, which really wasn't much to crow about, so I shan't. I originally planned to stay two nights, including a day trip to Tangkuban Perahu, a nearby volcanic crater. However, after reading numerous horror stories about the extent of the hyper aggressive touting and ... read more
