We had breakfast in the morning, which was bought to our villa! I was still pretty tired from my journey- even after a good sleep! So we just swam in our pool and napped for half the morning. Then we went in to Kuta and had a look around the mall and the markets before going onto the beach. We stayed there to watch the sunset but it was a bit too cloudy. Then for dinner we went to the Hard Rock Cafe- yes another one!- then we went back to the villa and had a few drinks and a catch up.
The next morning we booked a tour. The driver was really nice... Our first stop was turtle island- which was meant to be a nice conservation park- it wasn't there were lots of animals in small cages which I didn't like and they shoved animals at you to hold ... I wasn't impressed! But the rest of the day was lovely! After we went snorkelling and saw some cool fish. Then we had lunch before going to Padang Padang beach which was pretty. Next was Uluwatu cliff temple , it was cool and the cliff walk had nice views
and lots of cute monkeys! We then went to have dinner on a beach, it was a seafood platter and rice- it reminded me of being back in Fiji! Then we asked our driver to take us to Ku De Ta bar which was beautiful and overlooked he sea, we had a couple of cocktails but not a late one because we had another trip the next morning.
The next day started with tubing down the Pakerisan river. It was so much fun! The 'rapids' are only small and the tour guys were fun and kept pushing me backwards down drops and putting spiders on my tube which was funny. After that we went to Kintamani to see the Batur volcano. We had lunch there, which had some amazing views, before heading on a spice tour. The guide showed us all the different spices etc that he grew and then he let us taste all the different teas and coffees they produced- including a coffee which is made by getting Beans which have been eaten by a mongoose and excreted, then cleaned and made into coffee! Next up was the Holly Spring Temple. It had some beautiful statues and was very
tranquil. We walked round there for a while before heading to Ubud. There we went to the monkey forest- which I LOVED! Sooo many monkeys running around and climbing all over everyone! Then we drove to a spa, stopping at some cool rice paddys along the way, before having two hours of massages and body scrubs which were amazing! I felt super sleepy after but we went and grabbed some dinner before going home and chilling, watching a film.
Had a leisurely morning the next day, packing and chilling before I said bye to Kotaro and headed to meet Katie, my sisters housemate in ubud. She was staying in a VERY beautiful resort up in Ubud in the jungle and had a spare bed for the night so I went to stay. The journey there took a while but was worth it as the place was stunning, we chilled by the pool before spending the evening in the jacuzzi Chatting about our travels so far! Then we had dinner overlooking the jungle and an early night in a super comfy bed!
We had a very early start (5.45!) but the resort made us a special breakfast which was lovely! Then
we had a long drive to the boat stop and an even longer wait (without any info given of course) for the boat! We sat around for a few hours- I forgot what it's like in Asia! - before getting the boat over to Gili Air! We both felt pretty exhausted when we arrived but strolled down to a cute cafe called Neverland- I was obviously drawn to the name!- where we had some food and an amazing Oreo milkshake! After we walked round a bit of the island and paddled in the sea before going back to our hostel. There we got in the pool and chatted with Ana Australian guy- it got dark and all of a sudden loads of bats started diving I tot the pool, drinking water and flying off- it was so random and cool! Then we showered and chilled before having an early night.
Woke up the next morning, had breakfast and then went snorkelling. We were out for ages looking for a turtle but no luck 😞 after we went back to our villa to change as we planned on walking around the island. We walked for a bit, then got a snack
in a cafe when it started pouring it down! So we got back to our villa and went for a very brutal Balinese massage- my first one was much more relaxing! When we had recovered from the traumatic massage we went out for dinner when another storm hit- the lightening was insane but we made it home safe and sound!
The next morning we got up early and hired a bike to ride round the island. The weather seems to be better in the morning so we rode around taking some photos. About 3/4 of the way round it started to rain again so we stopped in a cafe and had some juice- the watermelon juice was amazing ! When there was a pause in the rain we rode back to our villa and had a swim. Then we rode the bikes back and had dinner in never land again. When we got back the weather wasn't great again so we watched tv for the evening!
