What a lovely blog...
It reminded me of my return to Thailand with my children some 25 years after my last visit. Everything had changed. At least you were able to rediscover the people, although they had traded their traditional lives into ones that served the tourist trade. If they could make this transition and still be warm and kind this is truly miraculous.
