My Room for the next week
Loved the whole "going green" concept of this hotel as well The Best Solo Trip Ever !
There is always a first time for something. And this was my first ever solo trip and I am so glad that I chose Bali for that because the moment I touched down in this beautiful island I fell in love with it's beauty, culture, environment and the whole atmosphere. Since this was my first solo trip, I was a little nervous to land in Bali around 11pm because I did not know what to expect in the middle of the night on my way to the hotel. But for all the first time solo travelers who landing in the middle of the night : There is nothing to be scared or worried of because Kuta is just the friendliest island I have ever set my foot in. I promise. After checking-in in the hotel I thought I should do some street festive since I noticed that there were still a lot of tourists and locals who were out there in the streets even though it's past midnight. Grabbed a quick sandwich and a peach tea from a near by cafe to cure my jet lagged attitude and did some street / window shopping
Lippo Mall - Kuta
The hotel was right next to this mall so thought of checking the place out in the first thing in the morning. for about good 30 minutes before I called it quits for the day as I was getting tired. But went to bed with the hope of waking up early as I was so eager to see what this beautiful Bali island had to offer me during my stay in here for the next 5 days.
Woke up early in the morning (a quick fact: I am not a morning person and this was like the very first time that I woke up without an alarm because I was that excited to do some exploring in this new land that I touched down last night) had a quick breakfast and then headed out to the nearest mall which was right next to the hotel to do some exploring. The weather was a little warmer than I hoped for but me coming from a Sri Lankan weather, this humidity was tolerable. The traffic jams in the roads were rising but the security personnel in other hotels and the restaurants were kind and generous enough to assist the walking tourists to cross the streets and hailing cabs when needed. That was a kind gesture that I haven't seen from other countries or
Starbucks
Everywhere I go, I get drawn into Starbucks ;) cities and certainly didn't expect such welcoming attitudes like this as well. Even though I went around in the mall I could only do some window shopping and then headed back to the hotel to pack a go-bag so that I could do some long distance exploring out of the city. I arranged my-self a day tour with a local guide who was really generous enough to show me a lot of places around for a fair rate and then started my journey from there.
Started the tour from visiting the Uluwattu Temple which had a beautiful scenic environment around. The place is been taking over by the monkeys and it's a nice image to witness such things every now and then if you are trying to escape the city life. Then continued my day by visiting Tanah Lot, Ulun Danu Bratan, Pura Taman Ayun and a Coffee plantation on the way from Ulun Danu. Since I'm a coffee addict this place was like a slice of heaven for me as I was lucky enough to taste a few flavors of coffee and the chocolate flavored coffee became my favorite flavor while the pomegranate flavor came on the second
place.
Came back to the hotel after a very successful first day and grabbed some street food for dinner. When it comes to trying out on street / local food I am always curious on their cooking styles and techniques therefore I signed myself up for a couple of cooking classes in the next day. Even though I almost never cook when I'm back home, I'm proud to say that I was able to cook some local dishes using their spices, techniques and styles which turned out to be really delicious. 😊
Day 3 I had to stay in bed due to a swimming accident. But once I felt a little better and less pain to walk I headed down to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunset in the evening. And believe me if you are a fan of beaches and seing the sunrises and the sunsets...well this place is THE place to be if you are in Kuta. It was simply breathtaking.
Day four started in Ubud which was another change of scenery and environment from Kuta. If you are looking to spend sometime peacefully with an ambiance of the countryside then Ubud would be
ideal for you. Rich in the paddy fields, Hindu shrines and the traditional food and the people is a sight for sore eyes. You can enjoy the traditional food in almost every restaurant in the area and if you are into nature photography then I could not recommend any place other than Ubud in the Bali region (from the areas that I've seen so far of course).
Well it all came to an end on the 5th day as I had to come back home from my mini trip. Even though my heart was crying out loud for not wanting to go back home I made another booking in the hotel to visit the beautiful land back in December. With that happy - counting down days, thought came back home with a LOT of amazing memories from Kuta & Ubud. 😊
Until next time 😊
xoxo
