THE HAPPY COUPLE
NENGAH AND JULI WEDDING DAY 23.2.2013 Well can't believe we have been here a week already. The time has flown, Simon and Lee went home Thursday night after a short trip for dentist and medical treatments, all went well and we miss them already. Had lots of laughs, wines and Bintangs and some great dinners! We have a new favourite Teatro gastroteque, yum!! Only damper was it rained for two days while they were here but we managed. Had visit to Dokter Gigi (dentist) Friday to fit all crowns as only had temporaries, think they are fantastic, total of $2500 for 6 root canals, crowns, bottom teeth whitening, new mouth guard, pretty damn good if you ask me. If we can't catch friends in Aus we always do in Bali, caught up with old friend Angie and Simon who now live in SA fantastic to see them with their lovely little boy who is now 16 months old. Had Nangeh (one of our staff) wedding in Sideman today, its quite a way 2 hours each way but through some absolutely gorgeous countryside, up and down hills, through rice terraces, palm, banana trees and rapidly flowing rivers, thank goodness it was a Saturday wedding traffic a lot less.
BALIYARRAVILLAS CREW
So happy we could all make it. The wedding was so lovely very traditional in a tiny village alongside the mountainside in Sideman. The bride and groom were very colorful, the ceremony goes all day but we went for a couple of hours with four of our staff from Baliyarravillas. The wedding was conducted first at the brides' parents' house and then to Nangeh's parents for more ceremony and the eating side of things. We had to park the car on a small road and walk into the family compound down a very tiny walkway. We were like the royal guests, had to eat before everyone else and photos all round, the food was very nice traditional Balinese food BUT the aroma of pigs and chook poo!! didn't mix that well with our lunch had to tune out!!! Though they had put bamboo fence to keep pigs away from tables etc the chooks and chickens floated around our feet and joined in, also a couple of dogs around the compound as well. We felt very special and privleged, the only guests to be served some Bintang!!
