10 December 2010 Ubud was not going to become our base (in truth, it never was, but we did think that we might stay there a few days whilst the surf was lacking and Gregg would want to be closer to the coast) and we therefore needed to make a plan. After a bad night’s sleep last night neither of us wanted to spend another night in the same hotel and I had seriously had enough of Kuta. There are many beautiful parts of Bali and Kuta is not one of them. It is busy and dirty, but on the upside, it is generally easy to find what you need as there are shops a plenty. Hi All! This is our first log in our travel blog! We have been in Bali for 5 days now and really enjoying every minute of it (relaxing,eating,drinking). The first few days were hot and wet but now the weather has cleared up and is bloody humid! We are staying in Canggu at Auntie Tessa's villa(heaven) it is about 20 minutes from Kuta out of the hustle and bustle which is great. We have been riding around quite a bit down to Echo beach (surf break and cafes) and other parts of Canggu. There are plenty of nice places to relax and everything is so cheap here we are living like kings!! We will have a more interesting log when we have actually done something exciting! Over and out... Pantai Seseh (byen hvor vi bor) Næstsidste stop på turen men ikke desto mindre fantastisk Vi bliver hentet af chaufføren fra The Shore (vores villa) kl. 10 om morgenen i Ubud. På vejen henter vi Henrik (Mr. pølle Petersen) og Nelle. Turen går direkte til vores villa og vi kører selv i vores minibus og følger efter vores nye chauffør som kører i hans bil med vores baggage. Det tager cirka 1½ time fra Hanging Gardens til villaen... Vi ankommer til en landsby og kører igennem rismarker og lokale folk indtil vi når en lille vej mod stranden hvor vores chauffør dytter for at få åbnet porten til vores villa. Trois jours de moto a travers les rizieres qui bordent l'ocean indien. Escapade sur un volcan dont le cratere est un immense lac. Bali possede 16 volcans dont certains sont encore en activite. La petite ile voisine de Lombok en a 11. Les routes sont bordees de maisons et de temples a raison de un temple par maison. Ce sont de grands sanctuaires, de grands centres religieux. Les fetes religieuses ont lieu un jour sur deux voir un jour sur trois. A longueur de journee, les balinais font des offrandes pour tout : les trottoirs, les carrefours, les arbres, les entrees de maison, les pieces habitables, les champs....ce sont de jolies compositions faites de palmes et de fleurs accompagnees d'un rituel et de batonnets d'encens pour les effluves. To all of our friends who said we would love Bali, you were right! It is amazing here! We woke up this morning to perfect, glassy, head high A frames peeling right and left, brah! It's so on! We arrived on July 30th at 12:00 AM, just in time for Tony's birthday! To celebrate we both cut 3 inches off our hair! Do you like Tony's? :0) Afterwards we had a yummy dinner at Ku De Ta and then headed to the spa for a massage, mani and pedi. To finish off the night we went to a reggae club called Apache and danced the night away! Our friends Barbara and John will be here on Sunday for 2 weeks to travel with us.
