Our hotel had once been a palace owned by a Rajput general. The garden outside our room was Uncle Nirmal's favorite place to read the paper in the morning.

The restaurant at the royal palace in Udaipur still serves a classic high tea in the afternoon. We chose a terrace table with views of the lake.

Now a ritzy hotel, once the residence of Udaipur's royalty. A James Bond movie was filmed here; extra trivia points if you know which one.
