Shantiniketan Holi Utsab About Holi
This year Holi Utsab held at Shantinikatan on 16
thMarch 2014. I and my family with my friend attend this festival. This is the traditional festival so I am trying to give some synopsis .
Shantiniketan is a small town near Bolpur in theBirbhum district of West Bengal,
I am giving below about Holi Utsab or called VASANT UTSAB
Holi is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as
'Holika'. The festivals finds a detailed description in early religious works such as
Jaimini's Purvamimamsa-Sutras and Kathaka-Grhya-Sutras. Historians also believe that Holi was celebrated by all Aryans but more so in the Eastern part of India.
The colourful festival of Holi is celebrated by different names in this vast and culturally diverse country. The traditions followed for the festival varies a little and at times a

Shantiniketan Holi Utsab lot as one moves from one state to other studying the various facets of the festival and getting behind the various colours of it.
Holi by the name of Basant Utsav is celebrated with fervour in the state of West Bengal. The tradition of Vasantotsav, meaning
Spring Festival was started by poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore at
Shantiniketan, the University he founded.
Shantiniketan is a small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, Santiniketan is also a tourist attraction because
Rabindranath Tagore wrote many of his literary classics here, and his house is a place of historical importance.

About BAUL SONG
The word
Baul has its etymological origin in the Sanskrit word

Rabindranath Tagore was greatly influenced and inspired by Bauls. Here is a famous
Rabindrasangeet (Tagore song), heavily influenced by Baul theme:
amar paner manush achhe prane
tai here taye shokol khane

RESORT At SHANTINIKATAN We have stayed Hotel-cum Resort namely RAKTAKARABI near Ruppur villiage area . This is totally remote village area.
Raktakarabi is a drama /shruti natak by Rabindranath tagor. I liked name as raktakarabi means (Red Oleanders) by Rabindranath Tagore
About 21 above bighas of land including cottage/land/pond and various trees.
