on the way to the checkpost from the checkpost
Project Amirthi
Hi guys this vivek …
I planned to visit the amirthi forest which is about 25 km away from vellore city so this is how the plan when
It was an early morning at vellore got out of my hostel by 5.45am and reached the vellore old busstand by 6.10am… the ride to vellore bus stand was pretty nice I had never seen the city such early morning the streets were filled with thin layer of fog which was passing through the street lamps it is nice to know it can be chilly in such a hot place like vellore that 2 min ride on the bridge to vellore haven’t seen it in an entirely new way…..
6.12am I was at the enquiry room to know the bus number and timings and found out I had a bus 15s at 6.15am that would lead me directly to the “amirthi forest zoo” the bus tickets of T.N buses are dam cheap I paid only 3 rupee for a 25 km ride
On my way to the amirthi I noticed the chill was increasing the climate was getting cooler compared to the hot vellore weather mostly its because of

a walk from the check post where i had to buy tickets to the zoo entrance its rich green trees the roads were good only till a point the last 5 to 6km was kind of bupy and the roads becomes more narrow as the bus goes further.i met a uncle named Mr.setu who was sitting next to me he told me about famous places to visit in amrthi forest and he also mention a place called “jamunamattur” which is an hill station and has cooler climate but I could not make to the place will explain the resone later in the bolg..
Finally I got the bus 7.00am at the amirthi forest zoo entrance but got to know that the zoo opens only at 8am so I was kind off early to the zoo … I dint had my breakfast so search for a local hotel near then came to know there was a small place where only idly vada and puri were served so went to that place it was small place and the serve only 8 to 9 people at a time that’s because they had only that many plates and when my turn had come the idlys were over I had no other choice but to eat puri.. Paid around 4 rupee
for each puri
by 8.10 I reached the zoo entence I paid the entrence fee of rupee 2.its a km walk from the main entrence to the the zoo it was a lonely road I was the only guy on the entire one km I could see a group of monkeys and small tents it must be for the forest offierces I guess and reached the zoo took few snaps of the caged birds reptiles etc… I was the only human in the entire zoo and I said to myself “wow vip treatment for 2 rupees” . By 9 I had done watching the zoo
I went to local shop which is just outside the zoo and he was just opening the shop I guss the shopped looked all messy. I asked him about the starting point of the teak which would lead me the small water falls I had read a lot about this falls in the other blogs so I was kind of exited to see the falls but the bad news came in the falls was closed due to safty reasons and the warned me not to go there the forest guards are guarding the

a small village hotel near the bus stop place after hearing the bad new I had no other go but to go back then I recalled what mr.setu mentioned a place called Jamuna mattur and I got to know that there is an express bus by 9.30
after a few min of waiting I was able see the white private bus coming towards me when I should him the stop singnal he dint stop and i realised that I missed the only bus to jamuna mattur in that route
I had no choice but to go back .. after a few minints of google searching I found a near by temple which is not faraway so my next desitination was fixed it was “singiri koil”
I got into a local min bus that would go to a place called “Arasimbatu” its about 25 min ride it was a good ride with small narrow road and witnessed small villeges passby and a lot of the frorest land were used as agricultural land..i got down at arasimbatu by 10 am
From there autos are available to the singiri koil the charge around 60 for a single auto for both up and down… I was not in an hurry
to go any where so I took the walking route after 2.5km of walking I reached the temple entrence by 10.45am
It’s a pretty old temple one can tell by looking at the structure the temple is stuated on small hill I had taken 50 steps to reach temple the view from the temple is awesome the entire forrest range can be seen from this point …
After a quick dharshan of lord Lakshmi narayana I had a drink and enquired about the bus timings to vellore the shopkeeper told me there is a bus at 12.15 to vellore form arasimbatu and I had 45 min to reach arasimbatu I dint want to be late and miss the bus so I took the auto paid him 30 rupees
Finally the bus arrived at 1.40pm it was delayed because some council member had won the local elections the had blocked the roads and the villagers had arranged a rally for him ..
After that I took the bus number 15 reached vellore old bus stand by 1.pm .
Places visited: amirthi zoo,singiri koil.
