Mamallapuram - Back packer's haven

This town lies between Pondi and Chennai and it is pretty much a back packer's stop off on the way to Pondi or other cities around Tamil Nadu. The environment itself lacks the Indian hustle and bustle of Chennai r even lifestyle we saw in Pondi. It's aimed mainly at tourists.

We used the time we spent here to sort out all our train tickets, soak in a little more sunshine and greet a monkey family at the bird sanctuary. It wasn't quite what I was expecting from a bird santuary. The birds themselves were too far too shoot (please see previous blog for more pictures).....

Cricket at Chennai next... I can't wait! GO ENGLAND!!!!!!

This gives you some idea of the scale of the sanctuary. Something like 30,000 birds migrate here every winter.... It's huge!
