The second colony Jono and I went to the first day of medical work was the same in the form of leper wounds, but harder emotionally. Jono and I switched spots that afternoon after lunch and I prayed for the patients while he handed the gauze to Jayaseely. Then, she came, a woman with one small wound on the bottom of her foot. But what I didn’t see was how deep it was, all the way to the bone. As I was looking at her beautiful face, she looked at me and I smiled, she smiled a little as well then the smile immediately went away. It was replaced with gnashing of teeth and a very pained expression. I was drawn to her. I went over at that very moment and comforted her by rubbing and ... read more

1/13/2010 Jesus, I am still not sure how I feel about going to the leper colony today. Please lead me in what you want me to do. Please lead me in the feelings and emotions that you want me to have. I trust whole-heartedly in you, that you will take me and use me however you want. I want to feel what you feel when you look at your children who are suffering from this disease called leprosy. Give me your eyes and heart for these people The first leper colony Jono, Prabo, and I went to, we didn’t do any medical work, we dropped off rice for the people living there to eat. As we were driving away, I saw a woman through my car window walking with her little boy of maybe 2 years ... read more

Hello, The end of our stay in India was fantastic, capped by going to the IPL. After our stay in Kerala, we went to the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary, in Kumily. We were meant to be able to see a lot of wild animals in their natural habitat - but we just saw monkeys again! They didn't attack me this time, but they were attacking each other! We went on a boat around the lake, but didn't see much. We also walked around the forest, by day and by night. It was really peaceful and relaxing. The time in Kumily was finished by watching some magnificent Keralan marshall arts - and they were doing some pretty dangerous stuff. After Kumily we took another horror bus to Trivandrum, another bus driver who was adament on speeding round corners ... read more

The three Sundays that we were in Chennai, we led three church services at the same leper colony. We drove about 1 ½ to 2 hours both ways to spend an hour at the colony doing an hour-long service. The first time we did the service, I thought that it was ridiculous that we were driving more than we were actually staying there. But that changed very quickly as we did our first service. How we prepared for these services is we prayed and asked the Holy Spirit’s leading on who should preach, give their testimony and which drama we should perform. The first Sunday while we were praying, I received this sense “Somebody is going to say that I need to preach, I want to preach but I have no idea what to preach on!” ... read more

Praying is such a powerful thing. Lifting up, giving things to the Lord and surrendering things to him is so amazing, especially when you see the results. Not always will we see things happen right away, but on other occasions, we might. This is exactly what happened to me. A week after being in India, I went to the market and a mall with Kelsie, Stella a staff member at the Chennai base and Gade who was a YWAM International Biblical Counseling (IBC) student staying at the base. It was such a fun day. I had two main things that I wanted to buy, and they were small things, but I still really wanted to get them. One was an Indian looking purse made out of silk type fabric. The other was a silk Saree, which ... read more

Within 1/10 of a mile of the YWAM base in Chennai, there were two Hindu temples. As Lisa, Nate, Jordan and I did a prayer walk in the neighborhood of the base, I really felt that it was not an accident at all that they base was placed so close to them. One day, these temples will be turned into churches for Christ. I felt that so strongly and that is what I prayed. That hearts would be opened and God would move in this idol worshipping, Hindu neighborhood. Soon there will be crosses in there instead of a god. People will bow at the cross and lift themselves to Christ and be forgiven. We really had a sense that in five years time, there would be a revolution for Christ in this neighborhood. God had ... read more

There was such a spirit of laughter and joy at Little Lights Children’s Home about a week into outreach. It was afternoon ministry so our whole team went to LLCH. We arrived at the home and waited for the children to return from school. Then we heard their voices. After we heard their voices, we saw their faces, faces that were becoming familiar to us with white-toothed smiles. The children became so excited when they saw our team! They said “Hello” to us very quickly then all scattered to their rooms to get changed out of their school uniforms into play clothes. Daisy, one of the women that works at LLCH came up to me and asked what we were planning on doing with the children that afternoon. “Are you going to just be playing games ... read more

The first Tuesday in India was also the first day of ministry. What I did first was medical prep, which consists of folding and rolling gauze. Myself, Cristal, Jordan, Hayley really enjoyed it. It was very relaxing and quality time for us to talk, not just with each other, but the Indians that were helping us with medical prep. We really got to know Stella, Sathya, Viniyea and Vinot. We found out the day before as our team met with Aqui, the YWAM Chennai base director that Vinot is suffering from shock. His parents had been recently diagnosed with Leprosy and then admitted to one of the Leper colonies that YWAM Chennai runs. He walked through the room while we were having our meeting. My heart broke when I saw him. He walked so slowly like ... read more

God sent my team and I to help with a little bit of mending in India. We arrived in India on Sunday January 3rd. The next day, Monday, we all went to a big mall so us women could get our Indian clothes, Salwar Kameez or Punjabis. The mall was absolute chaos! So many items of clothing and so many people wanting us to purchase things and wanted to help us. We were all very overwhelmed. I found out the next day tbough that Indian clothes are not always made the best. As I was putting my pants on, they ripped therefore I had to sew them so I could wear them. I had a sewing kit praise the Lord thanks to my mama. As I was sewing them up, a revelation occurred to me. In ... read more
